Just wondering wondering why LL hasn't done something like this to get TSO users hooked:

Well, probably a few reasons. The first probably being that TSO is not as similar to SL as There is. There is 3D and TSO is not. Also, TSO is run by EA which might get all mad if SL tried to hook TSO people. There is run by a smaller company, they may have had some sort of agreement with SL.

I had something witty to say but thought better than to say it.

The There offer was put up at a time where there was a mass exodus from There upon announcment that There was going to stop supporting their service (wow, how is that for variations on the use of there? lol). SL did not do anything in advance to try to attract There users, other than simply being SL :) I imagine they don't feel it right to try to steal users. I have found that word of mouth among players is one of the strongest ways to get people here. As Launa Fauna posted in another thread, I browbeat all of my friends and acquaintances in There and TSO to get them to come here. If TSO goes belly up (amazing that it has not), I am sure you will see some oveture to attract TSO users. Until then, it is known as poaching, which is frowned upon.

Schwan if you ever had an inkling of being edited here ....if those forums havent changed in two years there was more thread deleting and no answering going on on those forums than one could Imagine. However, I am thankful of the freedoms we do enjoy here on these forums for SL.

SHAZZAM

Wonderful! A TSO thread! Hmmmmmm Wonder if I have something to add? Dam straight!!! I came from TSO (and the forums) before playing SL ad comming to these forums. There are MANY differances between these two games. However if I started listing them, I'd be here all night! Suffice to say that SL is a FAR better game than TSO. Disscussing the differances is like compairing a newborn baby to a wild teen. They have a lot in common, but are no where near the same.

I have no idea why SL has no active TSO recruitment process other than EA have totally fucked the game an are desperatly trying to keep what little members they have left! No way do they want to help the compation thats for sure. While I do not play the game, I still do read the forums (stratics.com) dealing with TSO. I AM a firm supporter of the "genra" an offline versions and so I keep tab on things waiting for that iceburg to hit an finally sink TSO once an for all. Do I want TSO to die? Nope not at all. Do I want my friends to come play with my in SL? Yup absolutly! I know of 2-3 people who play which would be fantastic for SL, but they's dont want to give up the game quite yet........ But give em time, an I'm sure they will have no choice in the end............

And please, please don't get me started on the TSO forums! There in the same condition as TSO is, an thats just sad...............

sims.stratics.com If you wanna say something about SL, do it in the "How's Life" section or it will get deleted. They talk about There and WoW on it, so I don't see any problems with a SLer posting something.

There ya go Schwan... but be prepare to be deleted. Open discussion and independant thought is not encouraged on those boards.

Just wanted to add, I don't think the game is being sold in stores anymore, which is making players question if its time to go... which it definetely is.

LOL

You post away, BUT I should warn you all now, stratics.com HATES negativity in ALL forums. If anyone post there, prepair yourself for a fight as the majority do not like other players from other games posting on the forums for generally any reason. GO FOR IT I say!!! I just love watching a good wild battle on stratics.com. Hell its a lot better than playing TSO now thats for sure, an in the end, thats just sad but true................

The member base for TSO is largely under 18. In my last month there, I doubt there were more than a dozen real adults playing in my main city. That is part of the reason I left: didn't appreciate paying a fee to play a "game" when all I did (if I ventured from my home) was babysit.

When in beta, there was a promise of user created content that never came to pass, but I suspect it would have been like There's version and not what we enjoy in SL. That is another reason I left.

To be honest, while there are (or were) some great people in TSO, I'd prefer SL NOT court those players. The ones worth having in SL will find us when they get tired of babysitting.

Censorship is a way of life in TSO and their forums, as well as whining for money, 12 yr old prostitutes and "tagging". I am SOOOO happy those days are over for me.
