I am currently hosting a small forum on Westhost and my site has been down for over 36 hours now. They are apparently unable to restore a server from backup!

The site doesn't get a lot of traffic (200-500 people per day) and uses PHPBB2.

I have one of those $0.77 dreamhost accounts, but that can barely serve static pages. When I try PHP there, the response time is horrible.

Anyone have any suggestions for a good, stable host that is $20 a month or less?

Not to take away from Darwin's offer but I have used powweb for several websites and have been happy with their deal and service.www.powweb.com

Ask me in about a month, I just started another site there and am planning on including a message board and have only just started laying it out. They do have a community forum that you could prowl around in and ask for feedback.

I am plowing through their forums now. Some posts sigs have links to phpbb2 forums. There seems to be up to a five second lag time, then the forums come up nice and fast from there.

I just wanted to share the host I'm using. They're at http://www.webelucidations.com and I am very satisfied with what they offer. You get a ton of useful features and a lot of space and transfer a month for what you pay. Five dollars a month gets 800 MB of space and 10 GB monthly transfer. I think the best thing is their customer service. I had an issue with my old ISP and WebElucidations did a lot to help solve that problem.

Well I took you advice and signed up with Powweb.

It has been days and ther are several of us just hanging with no service.

It seems there are numerous customers who have service that isn't working. The chat room is full of 30+ people and not a single customer service representative to assist.

I finally just reported them to VISA and the BBB.

Anyone else have any suggestions? I really just need someone to host my email accounts on my domain.
