Lindenlabs released a statement today:

"We'd like to apologize for the inconvenience and any personal injury caused by our update. Apparently some of our features are so real, they affect inner-earth core dynamics. Rest assured that we will address this issue in future patches. Please keep in mind that you cannot un-rezz fallen debri in RL, you must either do it yourself or hire the appropriate contractor. Linden staff will be in RL on various street corners to answer any questions."
