I'm on a "waiting list" for my Mini Mac

It seems that the bloke at Manchester Mac Centre (who, incidentally, does a good impression of Apu from the Simpsons!) doesn't understand the concept of putting a Mini Mac aside for me so I can collect it when I next go to Manchester tomorrow. Each time I phone up, "it be in next Wednesday! We have ten delivery!" - you said that last Wednesday, you tit!

It is extreme arrogance on the part of Apple to believe that its customers will sit on a "waiting list" to spend £330 on a computer! I've half a mind to take that money to the local PC shop: at least they're available.

I'm absolutely fucking sick to the back teeth of being told by fucking bored shop assistants who say in their best BigJohn Jade: "we no got dem in, Apple no delivery date bye."

Evidently they're getting about ten calls a minute asking about the things, and they're sick of saying it, but you know who's snapping up all these Macs? They're all going into the Apple store on Regent Street in London, and being sold as soon as they come in, and the North gets what dregs are left.

My absolute fucking pet hate is chasing around after companies with artificially scarce products, credit card in hand. LOOK! I'M TRYING TO GIVE YOU MONEY HERE! IF YOU'RE GOING TO ARTIFICIALLY RARIFY YOUR PRODUCT, I WILL GO ELSEWHERE! There are some increasingly attractive-looking PCs for that price.

It happened when I wanted a digital radio just after they first came out: I wanted one brand and got another, because the first brand had hyped up their product and made it artificially unavailable. I bet there are thousands of these Mini Macs sitting in a warehouse near Slough ...

I had the bad fortune to be in Birmingham today, and on the way back to the train, I happened upon an Apple Centre which I didn't know was there. (It's in the Mall Pallasades, that rubbish shopping centre next to New Street station)

I actually saw a Mac Mini in the flesh, switched on, working. Unfortunately, "we don't know when there'll be any in, and it won't be less than three weeks".
