Hi,
I would like to place a communications network across the world.
Obviously, the individual communications nodes should be: - inconspicuous - not get in the way
Two options seem available: - burying it in the ground - placing it at altitude
For the moment, it seems that high altitude could be the thing to do. The network would comprise a few very small alpha, phantom nodes spaced around the world at high altitude.
My questions are: - to what extent would you find it acceptable to leave the system rezed permanently? - does anyone have any preference over a minimum altitude for the network? Im thinking around 150-200m, in the clouds. Higher would be possible, but would increase last-mile local loop delays.

We can already IM with others, why is a new communications network needed?
People are going to see unknown objects (comm nodes) on (above) their land and return them to you, making the grid rather difficult to maintain.

Cover them with a 100% transparent texture, set them phantom, and make them very small; then you can park them wherever you want. (Though you need to either get the land owner's permission, or buy a one-square plot yourself.) You could put them at ground level in case you need easy access after they're deployed. Still don't undertand the purpose of this system, though.
