MGM has settled a class action lawsuit about marketing DVDs as widescreen, when they were actually Pan & Scan with the top and bottom chopped off. Replacements are being offered through a tortorous process detailed at the MGM site on the class action suit. The DVD list includes hundreds of films like Y Tu Mama Tambien, the Rocky films, Raging Bull, Terminator, Hannibal, the James Bond films and many more. Class Members who submit timely and valid Claim Forms may exchange each Eligible DVD for (i) a new MGM DVD from a list of 325 titles or (ii) $7.10.

I heard about this the other day. I can't believe MGM thought nobody would catch on! I joked that they should alter their trademark lion by buzzing off the top and bottome of his mane.  |

Thanks for the heads up! I have several of those DVDs and always thought it looked like stuff wasn't right with them.
