I have added a couple of posts already this morning here and there in the forums, but I am still pretty shaken. I was driving to work this morning and couldnt get over into the center lane to save my life. I had to take the exit, which I did. I went down the road a bit and found the nearest turn around. I proceeded to merge back on the highway, a little car was dead stopped in front of me (that never happens) I didnt understand why, but had to slam on my breaks to avoid running him over. That was fine things happen. I soon realized why the car was dead stopped at that particular place. The sun was hitting just right (behind me) making it impossible to see what was coming as I tried to merge onto the highway. The car infront of me began to go so I figured it was a pretty safe bet to also proceed. Perhaps his view was better than mine? Perhaps not As soon as I began to merge onto the highway the sun was no longer a problem. I glanced just for a second (and thank god I did) All the sudden I was hearing a very loud semi truck horn and I could see in my mind this truck literaly running over my car. I had to jerk the wheel, knock over a rather large construction cone, and run over some construction garbage. The semi barreled past me horn still blarring. I was off the road and in a ditch, my office bags contents spewed all over the front seat and floor boards. Needless to say I was very shaken. I must of sat there for 10 min. wondering/thinking/praying about; "everything". I thank god for this day yes I certainly do. Catherine

Im just glad you are ok! Yes someone was watching over you, and is happy to be given thanks! Last summer I was riding my bad motor scooter. I came to a redlight and turned left under the interstate and headed up the onramp. This was on of those onramps with a MASSIVE concrete wall on the left all the way up the ramp. It holds back the dirt they used to raise the roadbed. Anyway I was maybe 20 yards up the onramp when this blue lexus appeared on my right out of NOWHERE! Apparently she had taken the corner under the over pass so fast to beat the yellow light and was busy looking in her rear view mirror for the PO-Lice. I was now in her blind spot and she was moving over on me! Lexus - Wall of Death Lexus - Wall LEXUS - WALL I was so close to the wall that 1 more inch and the handle bars would hit the wall and jerk the steering and under the lexus I would go! What else could I do? I started WAILING on her back door with my right foot. She just heard bumping noises and thought she had run over something. I was screaming at the top of my lungs and slamming the horn button for all it was worth. Finally she looked to her left and saw me, thank God! She screamed and swearved to her right and opened up the lane a bit right as the guard rail ran out and I was about to be slammed underneath a semi at the top of the ramp! I pulled off the road and just shook for 30 minutes.

Wow Catherine, I am glad you are safe! on my way to and from work there are a couple of spots like that depending on the time of year (position of sun, etc.). I've had several close calls of that nature and have had people slam on their brakes so close to the back of my car that I thought 'well there goes this life.' If its the sun, make sure you've got your sunglasses and watch out for those that don't! I used to have dreams about falling and then you wake up with a start - now I have them about stopped traffic and I wake up just as I hit. ugh!

Catherine,
It's always dangerous to drive if you can't see ...
Anyway, I'm sorry you had an unpleasant experience, and glad the worst didn't happen.

Giving thanks indeed. I think I shall buy a chocolate cake tonight and celebrate my life Catherine

Camille; Hugz Camille thank you very dearly nods on the sunglasses. Perhaps if it happens again tho I may just be late for work and not worry so much about merging lanes. Cat

ok i think i read that wrg...he was comeing from behind.... Jolene nods was right behind me judging the distance and speed? Too damn close, too damn fast. On that part of the highway ppl are usualy going 65-80 at that time of the morning. Scarry Scarry. I credit my quick thinking to my rl job where i have think on my feet under pressure. Real lives depend on it. I am so very thankful that I was well rested this morning. Many a time I am having my first cup of coffee on the way to work. If I hadnt just said in my head the hell with the car and went off the road... well I did thats all that matters. I must confess however I made a few private phone calls the min. I got in the office. Hugz Jolene thank ya doll Cat
