Where are the pictures you take in game saved? I went to the Second Life folder and couldn't find it there. I took a couple shots quickly before I logged out, so I can show a couple people at work and didn't notice where it went. Thanks ahead of time!

It'll save in your inventory folder, or it will save on your hard drive depending on how you save.

if you use the ` key, it will save to your hard drive - my documents folder usually.
if you use ctrl-shift-s it will save to your inventory folder.

hope this helps

they'll be listed as "snapshots" in your inventory. you can rename them by right-clicking. you can also take snapshots to disk if you're planning on emailing them or posting them to a website.

thanks for the feedback. I checked under C:/program files/secondlife/

and there are no inventory folders, snapshots or anything... hmmm, I'll do a search on my hard drive to see if it's somewhere else. I also checked all the subfolders including characters, and didn't find the inventory.

your online SL inventory

or

if saving them to your hard drive, the default is your windows 'my documents' folder with a name (for the picture) that isn't SL related unless you change it. They are not saved in your SL folder (at least as far as I know).

:) glad to have helped!

when you take pics online that save in your inventory folder (ctrl-shift-S) you will see them pop up so that you can look at them.

When you take pics with ` to save on your harddrive, you will see the location of the first one (and chance to rename), but any after that will just be automatically saved to your harddrive and you won't see them. (it took me a while to realize this)

Note, snapshots are taken and saved in SL, and will cost you $10 LD

You can then open the picture and save to a local folder, on your computer, but if you don't want to use the picture in SL, or if you want to edit first, before downloading to SL, I would use the "Print Screen" button on the keyboard and then paste the clipboard to your paint program (gimp won't take from the Windows clipboard unless something super recent has chenaged)

THEN you can upload into SL if you want to, and pay the $10 LD

Just want to share that, Love Ingie

another thing you can do is open any picture or texture in your viewer, go up to the file dropdown menu, and click "save texture as". That's will give you the chance to save any texture or picture onto your hardrive, without have to save directly out to your PC.

Yes, taking a screen shot is like uploading a texture, it's taking up resources, so you gots ta pay ;P I get the horrible feeling people hit that button alot without knowing what they're doing....

Unless this has recently changed? Please let me know?? Thanks, Ingie

No Ingie, it is still L$10 per snapshot *if* you use the snapshot to inventory rather than snapshot to disk feature.

I know this all to well after a night a bit too much wine, wondering where my money all went, then realizing I have a whole bunch more un-named snapshots suddenly in my Inventory. ;)

Do not use print screen option, it will include all the HUD and your money balance, well, everything you see on your screen. If your trying to show that and how it all looks, print screen is the only option, so go for it in that case.

Choose to send a pic to your hard drive. By default, it is the tilde (~) without the shift (`) on US keyboards. Doing this will send a high resolution pic to your hard drive, your best photo quality option. This is also free, no $L charge for doing this. You can later review the pics you have taken, then upload the best of them for $L10 each (just like a snapshot) if you want them in world.

To improve landscape pics, go to options and increase your draw distance to 512m. This will give you more detail to the background and will make a better pic. But, remember to set your draw distance back, because it will likely be too laggy to play routinely with that setting.

Good luck, pics are fun :)

There's also an option on the debug menu to "Include UI in Snapshots" so you don't even have to use printscreen for that.

Do NOT save your snapshots to where Second Life defaults to.

It wants to save them into "C:\Program Files\SecondLife\Second Life", but make sure to choose somewhere other than the SecondLife directory.

The reason is when it upgrades to a new patch, it erases the entire SecondLife directory with no warnings that all your snapshots and other files will be erased.

So make sure you save them in a safe place if you want to keep them around longer than the next update.

omg! Thanks guys.

There Used to be a button when you pulled up an ingame snapshot that said "Save to Disk"

I thought they had eliminated that functionality with the new copyright rules.

Now I find out it has just been moved to File > Save Texture As.

Thanks a lot. Will help in webpage design.
