Ooooh You Have Lag!?!

OK, I want to appologize ahead if time for this rant...but I HAVE to...

I host Tringo(big surprize right?lol) Anyway, sometimes there are a lot of ppl there, but lets just go with the number of ppl I get there on an average day. Let's say 20 Avies.

So we all grab our cards and sit down to a calm realxing game of Tringo...WRONG!!!!!

All I hear are ppl complaining about lag. Ok for one...its an online sever, two there are about 20 ppl here add in all thier attachments, a few scripts maybe, and the 20 tringo cards that are all plopped into that sim at once...You have Lag? NAH!

Just pls stop whining about it. It doesn't help the lag go away and it pisses people off. So if you are a complainer about the lag issue, I suggest you not play tringo, unless by some miracle of the GODS you can find a sim with no lag while playing.

If people didn't complain about the lag, it wouldnt be a typical drone tringo event. What is a tringo event without whiners?

I found most people who complain about lag are unaware they can do a lot to help themselves. Perhaps you could hand out a notecard explaining how they can turn off their shadows, turn off local lighting, reduce their draw distance, remove scripted attachments and hoochie hair etc. Maybe also list a few of the causes of lag then they might be less likely to whinge in the future.

The chat lag at Primtionary last night was AWEFUL. 1-2 second delays on stuff being typed... huge lag spikes o' death, and it was hitting everyone there. No fun.

drives me insane. i dont host tringo but its blaintantly obvious everyones gettin the same lag and people who say it dont listen to others tryin g to help them. you can sit there for hours shotuing hints and tips for them... ignorants... CONTINUE THE RANTAGE! get yer own back girl

I hate hoochie hair (and hoochie trees for that matter) as much as the next person, but I dont see how that is causing this effect. I know hoochie hair lag... this is similar but not the same, its not a grinding halt like HH lag, it is a 1-2 second delay every time some else says something in chat. In watching my fps meter, I can see it normally up around 10-15 fps with very evident little spikes down to less than 1.0 fps when chat occurs.

Indeed, down with hoochie hair, but fix this lag too!!

Last nights lag had nothing to do with hoochie hair. I was on a private sim alone, and I saw having pauses of a few seconds. It is not the hoochie hair. Also, I think hoochie hair is getting a bad rap. What about all the sexy walk shoes and the overriders? They are doing damage also.

The really annoying thing is that most of the time it's low FPS, not lag. People just call it lag because they heard someone else calling it lag.

sure, its annoying when they call it lag, but you know what it means. to be honest im quite an ignorant but i just do whatever i can. i change it for myself and take off everything like that: rpims, overriders la de da. It's just nice to at least TRY and help other people too. screaming IVE GOT LAG (like theyre more important and we're all supposed to run to THEIR call) makes me go 'BLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHAAAARGH!!!!!!'.......... know what i mean?!

I know this thread is dead, but I'd just like to say:

I have everything in Preferences turned down to absolute minimum, excluding object and avatar detail. I have no music or media on, I have no fancy ground texture support, or lighting, etc. I have no shiny and no particles and no outfit composite, whatever that is. Everything is at minimum. On top of that, I turn Trees, Particles, Water, Clouds, Grass, Bump, etc. rendering off in the Debug menu. Sometimes even Alpha, Sky and Ground.

You can imagine SL looks pretty ghetto from my perspective, but, yes, I still lag. A lot. And a hearty shout-out to all the people with my card for watching me relog 80 times a day. I basically have to relog every time I TP anywhere, anytime I'm around more than 5 people with prim hair of any sort, anytime I move at all... Ghoti here knows of my lag. Oh, does she ever.

Anyway, I don't play Tringo for various reasons, but a large part of that is because I would be experiencing 10-second lag within the first 5 minutes, even with every single kind of rendering turned off. And, with everything turned off, I wouldn't be able to play anyway.

So.. I know a lot of people complain about lag when they still have all their settings turned up and wonder, "OMG WHY M I LAGNG SO MCUH LOL!", but we're not all just complainers. I frequently get 5-second lags when I'm trying to talk to someone and I just do my best to keep up so they don't lose all interest in talking to me.

So-- if you're around people who complain about lag, don't just automatically assume they're stupid and have their draw distance set to 5 million and particles full-blast. Because we don't all.

yes, but, then again, why do they need to publish it every 2 minutes?? its pretty obvious when, in tringo, everyones lagging. im just ranting about the fact that people seem to think everyone wants to know that -oh yes!- they're still lagging! hurrah!

If I am at a Tringo event and I am complaining about lag that means I am informing you why I am leaving. I refuse to play if I am going to miss placing every third piece because of lag.

well of course. at least youd be leaving because of it. we're talking about people that sit there and say it almost constantly. if i have lag, i dont wait to say anything, i just leave.

I tried tringo the other day, and I kept missing pieces so it was a waste of time for me to play it. I asked about the lag and was told to reboot. Well I checked the sim fps and it was 23-26.
