Regrets

While Second Life has given me much entertainment, laughter, and wonderful memories, it has also given me many regrets. And, as of late, my regret folder has reach it's capacity, and so I wish to acknowledge, and possibly lessen some of these. I am a good person, with a good heart, but I am not a great friend, for various reasons.

Online relationships can be fleeting, and easily lost, I know. But many of the people behind the avatars have made a real impact on me.

So for being a neglectful or distant aquaintance or friend, I wish to apologize to the following:

Once again, I am sorry for my shortcomings where freindships and relationships are concerned.

I guess I'm a bit of a loner.

I know just what you mean David and Eggy! I keep myself so busy and always have this imaginary list of things I want to accomplish that I'm a crappy friend when it comes to taking time to just hang out with people. I'm constantly thankful for those people that go out of their way to say hi or come by and chat. I wish I was as good a friend to them as they are to me. Being a a hermit has its drawbacks

I dunno. Maybe it's the norm in SL. I know I do it in RL as well, but I do regret that for some reason, I just don't really work on relationships beyond the initial establishment. It's not that I don't like those I meet and talk to, because I very much do. But my brain just doesn't function right on the freindship thing.

I've always been independent though, and a bit of a loner as well, so perhaps thats it.

God..me too! I love it when those I care about drop by and chat with me, or even IM me. I so appreciate it. But then I never seem to drop by and chat with them, or even IM them. I just don't know why I don't.

For me David what's important is how my friends act when I run into them in SL.

And you've always been friendly and taken time to chat - which I appreciate.

You're not alone David. That describes me to a T. It's not just in SL either. It's just the way I am. I've spent most of my adult life living alone and working at home so I've become a very self-contained kind of person. My friends completely rock for putting up with me.

And it's always great seeing you Merwan! So why don't I send you an occasional IM asking how you are doing, or drop by for a quick hello sometime? I know I should, but I don't. And I see so many folks that are naturals at doing so. Ones that have a bunch of friends that they chat with regularly, or even a handful of good friends that they hang out with.

And I am easy to talk to, and enjoy chattting, and can hold up my side of a conversation with relative ease. But instead I just let my freindships fade, and I hate that I do so.

I can so relate - I'm pretty much a loner and if it was not for my husband (the little socialite), I'd probably never do much more than work on stuff at home or read. When in SL, I find myself occupied with building and I rarely go to functions or IM anyone.

And like Chip, I am always grateful to people who drop by my little Furu Island to talk or who IM me.

Just wanted to say I had an awesome time meeting and chatting with you the other night, Chip. You were an awesome host, and I got a huge kick out of your morphing avies, as well as the caverns. I'm pretty much an SL hermit, too, but I've actually made it my New Year's resolution to work on building stronger friendships -- both in SL and RL.

Rose, you're lucky. That's the best kind of situation for us hermity self-absorbed types hehe, and it's pretty damn hard to find that tolerant extrovert to marry when you never leave your house

I think I have that same list. I need to burn it. There's something to be said for being a productive member of SL society but not at the expense of your buddies.

Definitely Ingrid. Now if I could just get myself to stop saying "I should have that done in a day or two" when what I really mean is "I'll have that done three weeks from next Thursday"

Awwwww....David! You are a great friend. I have never felt neglect. I think we are all guilty of not taking time to visit with our friends. I had been pretty unsocial for awhile but I just recently started making my rounds and visiting friends. I need to do it more. Don't worry...I still loves you.

As one of the people on your list I can honestly say you are the worst friend I have ever had David!

I dont even know what you are apologizing for dude. I have always considered you family bro…I dont even talk to my rl family members as much as I talk to you. And they sure as hell dont process the ability to understand my attraction to farm animals in the same way you can.

If you are calling yourself negligent then fuck I must be too. I know I dont im people any more often then you do. While I appreciate the sentiment behind your apology I will not accept it unless you accept mine as well. We can both commit ourselves to spending more time with the people we love. And the animals!

I have the opposite problem. I am completely unproductive because I spend WAY too much time socializing with those people on MY list. All those people owe ME an apology!!

Apologies are worthless. I would sue them Aimee, for potential lost sales income.

LOL! Thanks Darko and Paris. Love you two! Maybe I'm not that abnormal afterall..well..other than the sheep thing. And I guess I do talk to you guys more than my RL family too.

I really am gonna try and send an occasional, "How ya doing" IM, or go out once a week and drop in on those I consider friends, at least long enough to say hi. Just seems like I don't see the peeps I care about in SL nearly as much as I used to, and some not at all, possibly since Alana left SL, cause she was the socialite and pulled me along with her.

So if I read this right, Chip and David have both granted stalking priviledges, correct? You all witnessed it. I may need you in court later.
