Why do "some" SecondLifers feel...without thought of others, it's alright to dumb their freaking trash on parcels they knowingly don't own, or have asked to use???????
Yes.. first thing I'm sure that comes to your minds... "uncheck the create box".... "set for one minute return of objects"... yes.. I know these tools!!!
I have two parcels set for my shops (Enchantment Falls). For my shops, I have invited anyone with vending machines to set them out there. With that in mind, I have to allow create for them to do so. I don't want to give "edit" permissions of my items, etc...so I am unable to give individual permissions of "create" on lands.
Also, one of my lands, is water-frontage... which I like the idea, others may rez their boats there. I know how I am, when I go sailing... and wanting to stop to look around, etc... and finding places to restart my journey... it's a blessing!
Already once... I had to clear my one land of all others items (others vending machines, tree's already in place...)... why.. because someone within a couple of hours of checking... buried well over 100 prims on the land!!!
Now... I continue going there, finding more and more buried prims... example.. while setting a few pieces of my land to sell... making them small parcels... finding in one section of 496 meters, there were 20 prims of others unseen to the eye!!! OMG... made me soooo freaking mad!!! Someone else threw out several cone shape prims all over my terraces... Another one went on top of one of the hills.. and actually dumped out their unwanted inventory on the ground for me to clean up!!!
As of right now... I'm around 100 prims unseen by the eye... and I'm not a happy camper!!! I don't want to send back my guest designers items again... it's not fair to them either for the rudeness of others thoughtlessness!
I refrained from "ranting" publically about this issue in fear, someone may throw their trash out just to have fun.... however... at my last wit about this.
I am in hopes, that when others read this... be it the jokester, or a newcomer, mentors guiding, and the thoughtless... that it cling to their minds... you are allowed X amount of prims per parcel, depending on this size of that parcel, determines the amount of prims allowed. That, when an owner, or group allows "create"... it's for a reason... and you should "ASK" if you may set items out on the land. Also... would like to add... just as in realife, so should it be in secondlife... be considerate to others, which includes... your trash!!!
Thank you for listening...
Added message to our hosts, the Linden's... perhaps a thought of designing structure for individual permissions set for just allowing "create". (I would use that tool, even though the sailors would be the one's hurt by this... unable to rez).

Try turning on highlight alpha in search for invisble items, also turn off the surface patch in search for anything that may be under ground..

I would suggest you start a group for vendors at your shop, and have them set all their vendors to group. That way you can do a generic 'return objects' without returning the vendors.

Thats a good idea Kris, does the land have to then be set to group land? If so that would kinda suck =/

Nope it doesn't. The vendors just have to be in that group.

From: someone Originally posted by Sensual Casanova But then anyone can take the vendor right? not sure if thats safe.. details please... you know me Kas... talk to me like I am 2 Setting an object's group isn't the same as sharing an object with the group or deeding an object to a group. Those are different things entirely. We use this at the Aerodrome all the time. If you "Activate" a group before you start building, all objects that your rez will have that group in the properties. Or, you can edit any rezzed object and select the a group. So for example, if I rezzed a cube with the "Aerodrome Owners" group active, the cube's properties say: Creator: Cubey Terra Owner: Cubey Terra Group: Aerodrome Owners Nobody else in the Aerodrome Owners groupd can take or modify that cube unless "Share with Group" is selected. Since the cube is on group-owned land, it will not be affected by the "auto-return" feature. Hope that helps.

The object's group has to match the land's group. So in short:
* On the plot, pull up the About Land dialog and set the group to whatever group you and your sellers are using for this shop.
* For all objects, make sure they are set to the same group as the land.
No deeding or sharing is necessary.

I first want to thank each of you for your suggestions on my "still continued" issues of others trash I think I'm understanding the "group" idea, however... I know for myself, I have (unfortunately) had to leave some groups to beable to join retail groups (because of our limits on how many groups we may be part of). I know how I feel about that myself, but understand why I'm asked of it. For that, I wouldn't want to ask others to do the same far as joining a group to save prims for me and be left out of taking part in a "fun" group. I feel, the prim issues are my responsiblity, and not my invited guests. I'm not sure how to find, and impliment the highlight alpha... or turning off the "surface patch"... but, will experiement to find it.... hopefully that will solve the already unwanted prims on the land. What I have been doing constructive, is when speaking with newcomers that are naive to the fact, I do politely let them know, if "create' is allowed on privately owned lands, usually there is a reason...and should ask before rezzing. Only once, did I find a newcomer rude to me... and continue to rez items in front of me... now... he is banned. Also.. I did turn off the "create" option... but did not use the "return" option so that my guests vendors and objects would not be effected. Have to say though...has not helped... have over 200 prims unaccounted for even after that action Again.. thank you.. .and hope.. Lindens will find an easier solution.... create by choosen guests only... return auto of all others.... Gardinya

you mean if we disable the create/edit features in the land and then make a list of people allowed to create on the land, their objects still get purged in the auto-delete? if that is the case, that sucks. i thought by giving certain people access, that also means they're objects are still allowed.

Gardinya --
The options should be under the Debug menu somewhere, under... Render, I believe.
