Linden policy on selling/transfering accounts

I just wonder: What is official policy of Linden Lab concerning the transfer/selling of Second Life accounts? Is it same as with selling land or L$? I noticed some people tell me that the account they use once belonged to another person. But if somebody gives money to somebody and then receives account access, changes CC, password, RL info etc, who is then considered by Linden Lab owner of account?

i'ma guess they consider whoever's info is in the account to be the owner.

and they can still ban them anytime for any or no reason if they want whether they're the original owner or not.

Is there something that specifically says it's not allowed in the TOS?

I'd like to purchase a lifetime account, if possible..

Even though LL doesn't want people to do this because we don't technically own the accounts, we sort of rent them, it still happens. There was a time when they had a lifetime membership with land allocation for sale. Many residents bought some (some even bought many accounts). At that time a player could have bought enough accounts to be able to buy a whole sim's worth of land without paying a monthly fee. Since many players that have these accounts see themselves to have lost interest in SL, they sell their acounts along with all their items. All they need to do afterwards is change the credit card info.

Many players suggested bringing back to kind of accounts if only for a small period of time or maybe offering that same option to players after they have been playing for a while (I was one of those players that suggested as well ;)), but so far those accounts have not been brought back and might not ever. So, if you find someone selling their account and they are trustworthy, it might be a good opportunity.

There's a weird sort of bodysnatching angle to this -- say that a longtime inworld friend of yours disappeared, only to come back and act totally... different. Granted, avatar customizability is malleable, but of course, names are not.
