I've seen lots of people saying that 1.2 will force us to be newly prim-conscious -- we'll all have to learn to use textures, and couches will become cubes, etc ... the thing is, at the same time, they're increasing the total allowed on any sim by 50%. If there are, what, 30 sims (no idea, I'm too new :), we're going from 300,000 prims allowed in the game to 450,000.
My question is, where are all those new prims going?
A: Is it possible that the average person will actually get *more*? That this prim-consciousness applies only to a few specialised builds?
B: Are we getting about the same, with the rest reserved for those new one-time-fee accounts and other growth?
C: Is Linden reserving 150,000 prims for the winter months, to make sure that every snowflake is actually unique?
My personal favorite is the last one. What do you guys think?

3.75 prims per meter of land instead of 2.5. Many builds will probably still be over that by a wide margin. Upping the prim limits is a very cool thing, but there's still going to be a lot of people that will have to buy more land to support the number of prims they're using, or will have to rebuild.

From: someone Originally posted by Chip Midnight 3.75 prims per meter of land instead of 2.5. Just to clarify, it's 3.66 prims per smallest selectable square of land (which is 4x4m).

I would advise none of the above. If we get an influx of tourists ($10 users) and all residents want the ability to travel freely in vehicles and rez items temporarily (perhaps with a very small prim allotment not tied to land ownership in that sim) ... we'll want to use the new prims for these things initially. I know I'd much rather have these luxuries than more prims on my land right away - and believe me, I'm all about that too.

I'm wondering about stuff in the AV Centrals and especially the open air stalls in Boardman on Brown. Each 4x4 and way over the 2.66 limit

Good point, Jellin. I had not thought of that. Looks like vending machines willl be much more widespread.

From: someone Originally posted by Jellin Pico I'm wondering about stuff in the AV Centrals and especially the open air stalls in Boardman on Brown. Each 4x4 and way over the 2.66 limit I was asking this same question and found out that the Av Central stores are all being taken down. The Luna Mall will be the place to be, but I have yet heard or I think has anyone, about how that will work. I also got my notice of how much land I as over and in the interest of seeing if I can survive in the new 1.2 I decided to prepare for it. Now being a Lifetime member, I bought up my space in Darkwood, because of being a Elder there now and also wanting to see DarkWood survive this. My store was in Dore and has now moved also the side of DarkWood that I can at least control the prim usage I have and also what I can do. I also had a house in Dore and I then decided to figure out what I was going to do with the 128meter section that I had until I figured out that the total I would get was 27 prims. So needless to say that build is gone. I have started to look at the possibility that you will be forced into putting all your thing all into one place in a sim. If you own 4096 meters of land (a acre) you will be allotted 935 prims in total. If you split it up..you have to measure how much you will get per all your spaces. I found out by asking Lee Linden. So it will behoove you to think about all your prims consciously. I have had to move everything I have into one Sim so that my store (the Magery) can use prims that I don't have floating around or when I decide to Rez those things on demand. I also realized that the beginning of Alpha texturing is going to be such in demand that it is possible to make beautiful builds, just limited ones. Funny enough back in July I was in Perry and the Prim usage was up really high so I decided to get creative with alphas. If you have a good paint program, trust can make up soem beautiful things, take a picture, upload it to your computer, cut and alpha it upload it back to your SL account and you can pretty much make a very nice ornate, detailed design. So is it possible to live in 1.2 and make use of the prims you have..certainly, is it easy..no..but the no tax is really a bonus. Also anyone with a Vendor script, please contact me. I could really use one too. now is that DarkWoodian or not. No..but I am and many others will have no choice but to do this in the future. Take care guys and see ya inworld. Soren

malls and stalls and fairs and such might just die completely under 1.2 due to the 4x4 prim limit. on the upside. linden is going to provide a shopping complex where i'm sure they'll rent stall space that'll accomodate a higher prim count.
we'll be froced into a centralized shopping area and they'll collect all the rent. wait. what's the upside? i forgot.

I hope the LL mall rental prices aren't going to be as obscene as the other LL prices in 1.2.
