A Stupid Story

My friend bought a Palm on Friday with a camera, MP3 player, movie player, and a wireless internet card. He asked me to get the card working at his house. He bought an access point and I went to set it up and ran into some problems. The thing wouldn't let the device on to the internet for some reason. I went through all this trouble to troubleshoot it by resetting both the Palm and the access point to their factory settings, Nothing but fiddling with settings and whatnot. After the fourth straight hour, my friend accidently trips over his cable modem cord and pulls it out of the socket. He plugs it back in and we fire up the Palm and it worked! After all that, all it needed was a reset to the cable modem box.

The moral of the story: Never take the small and somewhat not important detail out of the picture because it can be that one detail that defeats you. Or the moral is I'm just an idiot :p

Heh. About every three days or so I have to unplug and replug my switch. Shouldn't have to, but I do.

Hey Mole, I was having that same issue with my cable modem. It actually started getting worse and worse, requiring more frequent resettings.

Eventually, the cable guy was called. Turned out I had a splitter that wasn't rated for digital usage. Apparently I had been overloading it, causing it to deteriate over time.

Might want to get your cables/connections checked out :)

If it gets worse, I might, but then again, I'm on DSL.
