Lost items do come home to roost! I got this e-mail today
"The object 'Duck' has sent you a message from Second Life: Your object 'Duck' has been returned to you from parcel 'Olive grove' at Olive 105, 82."
In late November of 2003 Garth and I bought 1/4 of the Olive sim when it changed from being a sandbox area. We were only there approximatly one month till we sold out and moved to Taber. We had a little pond with ducks swimming around, quacking. The duckys were always wandering off and we had to replace them.
Well it appears that after 16 months one of our lost duckys has returned! So to all of you who have lost items,,, don't give up hope, it may come home after a year or so.

One of the first things I bought - perhaps the very first thing - was a scripted fish. It cost 50L and I remember buying it from an open-air market like Brown's market. I bought it, took it home, took it out of my inventory, and it zipped off, never to be seen again. I thought. Until March 12th, 2005. When it was returned to me. After 8 months. Now what do I do - take it out again?

Oh that was a good one! I'm glad to hear that some of the lost pets have returned. On a more serious note, my mom just told me about an interesting conversation she had with Johnny Ennui at the cafe in Grignano a few days ago. One of the topics concerned the different rates at which time flows here as opposed to back on Earth. I wonder if the instability of The Grid has an effect on time here. Perhaps the recently returned items have been in some sort of limbo for the last year or so? Also, sometimes when The Grid is restored after a breakdown some regions return as if from a previous time period. Time travel? Why is it that I can spend days and days here... but when I return to Earth only a few hours have passed? Lost time.

Where'd the duck go?...
What did he see?...
Was it lots of beans lots of beans lots of beans?
I frankly am surprised SL kept track of it all this time.

It was probably on Linden Land or something. I had an object returned to me from De Haro. It's the new land forum I guess. That thing must have been there since 2003 as well.

Lost objects and the new continent temple !
04-06-2005 03:32
Is it a coinsidence that we have just discovered the lost temple in the new continent? My guess is that our pets and animals ran off or were kidnapped and some valient explorer has released them from the grips of this evil cult

Did he send postcards? 'Cause in RL I know of a ceramic pig that was abducted from a neighbors yard and they get a post card from him about once a month, sometimes they even get a picture. One year he went to Jamaica and sent a picture with two naked women holding him. He's been gone for about three years now - the last post card was from London but I think he's having a pretty good time. .
