Disappearing inventory items?

I just wondered, is anybody else having a problem with things suddenly and mysteriously going missing?

I recently bought a set of override animations from Reverie... L$1000 or so, and worth every penny. I was using them in a free-to-copy overrider. A few days ago, before I logged off, I turned the AO off and detatched it... I didn't move the item physically in my inventory at all, I just right clicked it and clicked 'detatch.' That's all.

The next night when I logged on, the animations were missing. Completely gone. I have other copies of the overrider, and the notecard that lists what the anims were, but the overrider that contained the anims is gone. I checked every other copy, all my folders, etc. etc..... nothing anywhere. It just disappeared out of my inventory.

I emailed support asking if they had any suggestions, what might have happened, etc... the response was basically, 'things disappear or get deleted all the time, mostly user error, we can't track them all down, sorry.' (Thanks.)

What's even wierder is, I can still turn the AO on and off, and the commands appear, but I'm not physically wearing it. I've detatched everything I can, and the phantom AO still is there.

Has anybody else had this problem, with inventory items just disappearing for no reason? Any idea why this happens? Is there any way for me to find and recover the item, or am I going to have to just replace it? I'd hate to buy a second set and have this happen again. I usually don't have problems with bugs like this, so this really irks me.... I'd like to be able to log off without having things be randomly deleted without my knowing.

Any ideas anybody can offer are greatly appreciated. :)

Yes, Ilianexsi, I too have experienced this. Today, to start with, I noticed one of my precious PixelDolls clothing is missing. :( It is nowhere in sight... arghhh!!! It has, to my surprise, has been replaced by an item named "New Shirt". I know this because I was wearing it before I last logged on yesterday and now it's just all... white. Ack.

Water, Torrid, and Gwin of Reverie are great people. I hope they can get the missing AO stuff replaced for you, if not already! Additionally, it IS bizarre that there is some sort of "phantom action" as you describe. Eeeps, I wonder what that is? Something outta sync with "virtual spacetime"?

Also, in fact, the Chartreuse sim, where Reverie's 3rd-edition building was recently constructed, has experienced some awfully weird glitches. They have been duly reported.

Continuing . . .

That sucks. So, does anybody have any clue what's causing this? Is it going to keep happening at random intervals, so that nobody's inventory is really safe? :(

Hey there, I'm sorry to hear about that. Just IM myself or Water Rogers, or Torrid if neither of us is on. We'll be glad to replace the animations lost :).

Don't you just fucking hate it when you're having a problem, have lost like tons and tons of stuff that is totally irreplaceable and some asshole comes along to tell you that he's fine?

I fucking do.

Thanks Lance. So glad to hear it. I've lost about 100usd of stuff. Happy?

Just saying it isn't a universal issue. It's still important though.

Aww, thanks, that's so nice of you! I didn't start the thread as a way of asking for a replacement, really. :) I mean, it wasn't your fault they disappeared. Thanks so much, great customer service is just another reason why I shop at your place. :)

I think we need to start a thread just listing all the stuff people have lost due to this stupid problem.... at best, could help people (maybe) find replacements from sellers or from other people who might have copies of the thing lost, at worst would at least let LL see just how bad this has gotten and how pissed we all are about it. Just a thought.

I think we need a bigger thread. I lost well over 1000 items.

Just longer thread... to sew up the holes that sharp objects have worn in your inv.

I'm still trying to assess the damage. Some stuff is just completely gone - and that's going to be next to impossible to figure out til I need something and find its not there. Others are just not rezzable - about 1 in 3 of everything I try to use from my inventory give me an error.
