Ok....without warning specially since this asset hardware "upgrade" this have been going buggy over on a Private Isle that I spend alot of my efforts and work on.

When the owner inquired about some things that were happening...the answer was yes we know about the bugs with single sim servers... Well HELLO!!! After spending 1200 almost it would have been nice for the owner to know about the bugs..

Just today found that part of a build that took about 2 days to do is gone..into void SW corner of DOOM.. Seems alot of items end up in the SW corner of the sim underground..

Various walls and prims seem to disappear at random...walls revert textures...the ground...which has textures given too you to use god forbid that anyone changes them..or they go buggy too.

Now with all the various topics of changes to things about SL and sure there is only like 44 Private Sims. But that is a pretty Huge Income from startup alone, would be nice to have a heads up.

Sorry about the rant but like anyone will tell you when you work hard building something nice only to see it gone due to a BUG and continuously happening is very very annoying.

And yes BUG REPORTS have been flowing due to this and crashes as well.
Thanks for your time.

Man that really sucks. I was saving up money for a private sim and have about half of it ready to go. Hearing things like this just make me uneasy to plop down $1200 and $200 a month for something that is as faulty as that.

Hmm,

I always joked that Stanford is haunted. . .things would randomly disappear, and I only later found out that a lot of them were piling up in one corner. . .

I finally got a confirmation that yes, the age of a server and the traffic it sees matters, as a server, like any other hardware, wears out, and in this respect, all servers/sims are not equal.

The above would make me think that the Private Sims are being placed on old/wornout servers. Do we know that a bought sim gets a fresh server?

From what I understand, since LL rents the servers, they have no control over when they are replaced. It's done by the company they rent from after the server has been active X number of months, or when the server breaks, whichever comes first. . .

But, do they have the power to request that say. . . Foo Avatars new sim be placed on say, Federal's warn out server, with Federal then being moved to a new one?

dizamn, I'm being pessimistic.

I really don't want to start any random rumors or poopoo SL, I still think they're awesome.

Just sayin'

That seems like a valid concern and a great question you raise, Oneironaut.

Biggest other problem seems to be now other people missing vendors...and ghosting of various items specially ones with scripts.

But thats ok LL says that they are working on the asset server for the next patch.

are estate owners not given a spec? every hosting company i've ever used has given me a full list of machine specifications before i've paid for setup and agreed to a monthly fee. and that was for just a few dozen dollars.

so many estate owners can't possibly just be handing over a thousand dollars cash money with no idea what kind of hardware they're being assigned.
