I'd like to respond, but I need more info. Would it be a walking tour, or vehicle-based? A tour of a specific build/sim, or more wide-ranging? Would the tour guide be able to tell me interesting facts about the area being explored?

I think tours are wonderful, and I've given them to many newbs for free. It's worth it just to see them laughing or going "wow!". It brings back a little of that "newness" feeling for me.

Just wish the Olive Pit, one of my primary tour spots, was still there. :(

But a tour service would be a great thing as well, and I could definitely see people paying a bit to use it. Maybe dig up any historical SL sites, complete with a background narrative, as part of them.

Also..make sure and put The Spook House, Time Plunge, and Spittoonie(sp?) Island on your tour stops, for the fun factor.

You're right Pol, I should elaborate! I'm planning on doing a few tours. The ones I'm thinking of right now would be both vehicle-based and exploring on foot. One of them is focused on two sims, another on a few sims at the same time. And yes, I'm in the process of collecting interesting facts about the areas. There would also be mingling, sometimes dancing, trivia, prizes, and don't forget free popcorn. Sounds good? :D

I agree - I've been here since June and I know there are still things I've not seen. Doing a tour would force me to dedicate the time to look at them and not get distracted in PS or building.

Thanks for the tips Dave :-) Yeah, the Spittoonie Island is definitely on my list. And you're right, some tours should be free.

I think tours in SL is a great idea and I'm surprised it hasn't been taken as seriously as it should. And it's not a waste of time either - SL is a cybernetic art gallery. I don't think spending 2 hours at an art gallery is a waste of time. Another thing is that there is so much more to SL than just clubbing, clothes and games. People should spend more time exploring it and witnessing human potential...it's inspiring.

The Olive Pit was a build in Olive (of course) by Sulumor Romulous (sp?). From above or outside, it looked like a rustic building surrounded by a little park, with a huge tree towering up into the clouds. When I say huge treee..I mean HUGE! It had a walkway that circled and circled and circled.

But the coolest features (in my mind) were the huge hidden underground park, complete with a vista of a snow-covered mountain and a pond and statues and benches, and the things one found, far above the ground, at the top of the tree, including a room made of clouds and a glowing coral-like garden. The surrounding park was lovely as well, with a unicorn who's horn pulsed with magical energies. It was one of my favorite spots in SL, but because of it's location and semi-hidden features, I don't believe it ever became well-known. I only discovered it because my first real build/home in SL was in Olive and just a stones throw from it.

There..more inforamtion than you ever wanted.. ;)

For me it would depend on what it is a tour of. Something in SL...zip. A nudist camp in RL $20 US :D Mars, quite a bit more.
