One of the wonderful things that we have noticed already about our visitors to Neverland and Olde London is the amount of light roleplaying going on...

In Second Life, we tend to put that aside for more "RL" re-enactments. I wonder if its time to do a little more of it- Slipping in and out our "daily eselves" is an amazing concept, when we have already adopted a new persona.

How delightful to see.... We are enjoying you as much as we hope you are enjoying being here....

Any thoughts?

BACCARA! I've not been to Neverland yet, but eh... all things in good time eh. :) I can't wait.

I will likely be roleplaying in some capacity there. Roleplaying on top of roleplaying actually -- it'll make sense if you see me inworld again. I find it very difficult -- a great challenge -- to "think outside of myself" and put myself in another pair of shoes. At the same time, it is exciting and I am largely in SL to explore and discover new things.

I plan to fully get into period costume, and although I can't lay any credence to being able to speak the tongue of the times, I hope to learn from others who do and go from there.

Sounds real fun. :D

It's the costumes I think, give someone a sword and eyepatch and there bound to become there ideal version of a pirate. Same for the cops and robbers.

Yus, costumes sure do help to set the mood. It's kind of like... if you're gonna eat a yummy dinner, psychologically it becomes more appetizing if you have it in a fancy restaurant -- as opposed to a dumpster. Although I've eaten lots of dinners in the Midnight City Dumpster. ;) There are certain triggers and cues that help the fantasy become more visceral.

Role playing is my favorite thing to do. I didn't get to do it at Olde London with Daemioth because Daemioth is already a character I play, so it was too hard a stretch for me to play a character that plays a character. I roleplay other characters in different alts (there, my admittance that I have alts along with my justified explanation) but I do wish there was a full-fledged role playing community in SL for my characters to have homes in. I proposed an idea for a role playing community just as Numbakulla was being announced, but I didn't get much feedback, which leads me to believe there isn't yet an audience for the role playing community. Though that doesn't mean I won't check back at a later date to see if role playing is desired. :)

Baccara you and your friends have come up with the perfect setting to roleplay. The whole sim is contiguous in the Olde London theme. I think that other parts of SL are simply too scattered. People get distracted (but not for the right reasons).
You guys took a theme and went with it gangbusters.
I applaud your efforts and have spent the last two days in Old London. And I'll be there for a while...
