I cheated a bit, but it's synched up just the same :)

It's over in NorthWest tan, by my mansion... can't miss 'em :)

The first? I have a pic of a rather complex and impressive gearing system that was in the old clock tower in Slate, right by the train engine. Its gone now, but it was rather amazing. I think I took that pic back in July, I would be happy to show you sometime in world. There is currently a display of gears and cogs in Northern Chartreuse that is has been around awhile, pretty sure its still there in some form.

Loki I would like to see those if you could send em to me or something :)

Maybe LF has the first huge gear system? Lol.

That was Lordflys clock tower (except the clockhands, which were, uh, mine). They weren't physical though, all fake :)

Still, I've seen plenty of physical gears that were working more or less well in the old Olive sandbox.

That sounds very cool LF =D

I can't log in now, but I'll definitely check out the gears when
I get home =D

I dont get it I guess. Whats the difference in physical gears and the ones at the slate clock that rotated and appeared to performing a function? Gears of any sort that appear to be performing a function seem really cool to me, keep up the good work. :)

I stood right next to Gwydeon Nomad when he and another player (Baba Yamamoto, I think) fashioned a giant, physical gear system complete with pistons, in Sage last summer. I wish I had a picture, but I don't think I do...

I think the difference between fake and physical is that with physical, only one gear needs to have a rotation script - the rest just get pushed by the first, and don't need any script at all.

If they both accomplish the same effect, isn't the non-physical method better, as it takes less toll than physical objects?

Thank you for sticking up for me Beryl but this might be a little different, mine was a ... I think its called a crank shaft.

I didn't have one gear pushing another powered by some I just had the one gear driving a piston powerd by rezing spheres, could have but didn't. Ah well...

Regardless its fun to do and I hope LF's is still up so I can see how he's managing his.

( BTW can I have the title for first physics -only- catapult? :D )

It's like the difference between a van Gogh and a reproduction.

(P.S. I cant logon - patch and all that - which explains the plethora of Azelda posts today. I should go and do something useful instead really)

Some responses...

The clock tower in Slate was also mine, but the gears were non-physical. While it looked right for about 2 minutes, eventually the gears would de-synch and then mesh through each other. Usually not noticeable, but to me it was a pain in the butt :P

With the physical gears, each gear kinda pushes against the other, keeping them synched up.

So there :P

Ahh, I remember you building those in the Sandbox. Didn't Xero help you a bit with the script, too?
