Has anyone visited Anshe's zoned Islands? I personally think it's a good idea, but the Islands themselves are damn ugly! Huge dis-jointed lumps of green that suddenly end in cliffs at the end of the sims,odd square shapes of land, no trees and weird changes in sea levels. It doesn't even look half finished never mind the tranquil paradise it should be.

Why did you want to post about how ugly you think something is in the forums?
Is it because its Anshe, or because it truly honestly offends you to the point you just had to share? No matter which, its probably time to remember what your mom hopefully taught you about saying something nice and not saying anything at all. Not sure what you hope to accomplish with your post besides a flame war. EDIT: my apologies, realized I sounded a little harsh myself there. Long day at work. Still not sure what the purpose of your post is, besides sounding like you're trying to start an Anshe gang-up. |

Haven't been there yet, but if Anshe would like help getting nice landscaping done, she can contact Construction Inc (IM me).

I can follow your line of thought on that one. My opinion is, you might be better served by expressing your opinions to Anshe or her builders yourself directly, instead of openly remarking on the forums about how ugly you find it. Not only does it seem petty and like you're singling her out (would suck if everyone that found a build/sim ugly decided to broadcast it on the forums), this is Anshe we're talking about. Mentioning her name is almost as bad as invoking Godwin's Law in an opening post. You're guaranteed a flamewar and/or an 8 page thread. Just a suggestion and my $0.02 |

There is no Anshe, there is only Zool.
 Are these zoned island properties considered finished and for sale as of right now? And even if they are for sale...what of it? The land might be 'ugly' as it is....but if you're selling it with some design guidelines in place, isn't the whole point to have the landowner make it look pretty? _____________________

According to her website one does not actually own the land they 'buy' in these sims... unless I'm reading this wrong:
BUYING There is also the concept of "owning" land. You pay a one time purchase price, currently 4999 L$ per 1024sqm, and you don't pay rent. This ownership is transferable if you decide to sell it to another SL resident. It is permanent as long as you don't violate the sim's Terms of Service (see below). But of course you have to pay tier fees. There are some differences compared to normal land ownership that you should be aware of: o As long as the sim exists, your land will be held by my land holding group that you will be invited as member to. Linden Lab has announced that with the next major update of the Second Life software land in this kind of sims can be deeded to land ownership groups. o You pay your tier fees to me via PayPal, instead of paying Linden Lab. If you are a European Union resident you can also pay via EU-Payment. Rates are the same you would pay to Linden Lab. As added benefit you can have a custom tier tailored to the size of your land, e.g. 3000sqm, 5000sqm, 10000sqm or other "odd" sizes without having to pay tier for land that you don't use. I'm not sure what that means for being able to make the land prettier. -Ghoti _____________________

I'm not sure what that means for being able to make the land prettier. Of course, being a member of the land group will grant terraforming rights... but why start out with 'ugly' (again, I have not seen yet), when you could start with beautiful terraforming, then let the residents tweek as desired? The answer might be 'so that plots look flat for houses and stuff' to which I say meh! I'd rather make my builds conform to existing beautiful terrain than flatten out all the land into uniform blahness. My L$2, -Ghoti _____________________

ok first of all Aralynn Calm down, i know u are better then this to get upset at what they say. Now to those or a person that was by the land, maybe u need to STAY away if it offends you so much. But the idea is to make the place look better without the use of clubs ect. If it bothers you stay away. Problem solved.

I don't get it. Why pay her tier fees when I can just pay LL the same amount and own the land full out? Maybe if I got a discount that would make sense. I guess if I wanted that particular plot....I think if the tier fee was slightly lower people would have more incentive to pay her instead and she could still make a profit because you get a discount from LL when you own a lot of land.

Sorry Aralynn if you took offense, I don't even try to judge your building or land. Taste is subjective. You're right who am I to judge it? I was looking at the at the various zoned lands to maybe settle there and instead of seeing the traditional SL landscape, I saw this disjointed lump of squares that looked like a jigsaw of badly fitting and mixed up pieces. I was disapointed and I posted here as I thought that maybe I was missing something. Anyway the zone itself was advertised in the forums too. |

Everything is really subjective, well not everything, but a lot of things. I visited someone who has an island in one of the zones and thought "wow, how cool!" The island was about 16k but it was surrounded by water and I thought the potential for designs were unlimited.
I can understand why some might wonder why there wasn't more terraforming, but I just figured it would be left up to the individual renting it. Of course they wouldn't have access to all of the island owner controls, but maybe Anshe would be available for adjustments. As for why you would pay Anshe instead of LL, there are good reasons. Anshe is offering a zoned area, so you won't have to worry about clubs or lag. The other is that the tier structure is more flexible. For instance if you have 10k of land, you have to pay $75 to Linden which is the same as someone holding 16k. |

Likely the draw would be the"zone" that does not permit clubs, malls or other lag/shout causing venues. So you would not have to worry about 40 or 50 AV's converging next door yelling at each other to "shake it! WOOT!" when you are chatting up ya shortie by your brandy new fireplace while parked on the newest smooch balls.  _____________________

If some newbie had built something and this person flew over, thought it looked like shit, and came on the boards to comment, it would be wrong. Anshe, on the other hand, uses every opportunity afforded her to promote these places as the next Xanadu so I have no problem with someone commenting negatively on it as long as she is also here promoting it. |
