ok, does it have a script in it?

did it come with a note card that tells you to give it a command like "Start" or "Crank"?

Did you drop it in a no script zone? A little red paper top of screen (where the red box meaning no drop is)...

If not IM the creator and ask him for a new one, he will check it out and see what is wrong and replace if not working for some reason.

I have a mambo, one of those new ones that costs L$149. It runs and then stops, too. However, it appears to be a function of where I drive it. Go to the Weatherall (sp?) telehub and you will see a nice road and parking lot. Rez it there and try to drive it.

Make sure the car isn't rezzed into the ground at all. You can use edit and raise the car off the ground a little before you get in and it should lower itself. If you finally get it going, slow down when crossing sim borders to minimize getting stuck.

People in the forums will try to be as helpful as they can, but nobody knows that car better than the creator. You should drop them an IM asking for help before you go public with phrases like "I got scammed". If they give you the run-around THEN it's time to raise the red "consumer warning" flag in the forums.

It's impossible to know what the problem is without seeing it, of course, but here are my usualy tips if a vehicle doesn't seem to work...

* Find a spot to rez the vehicle. It's best to rez vehicles on a patch of bare ground where scripts are allowed.

* If you rez it on a prim surface, lift the vehicle up a little bit. If any part of the vehicle -- even an invisible part -- is imbedded in any other prim, the vehicle won't move.

* Get in the vehicle: right-click anywhere *except* a seat and choose Drive/Fly/Zoom/whatever.

* Read the instructions first, because every vehicle is different. Some vehicles will provide help in chat when you say things like "help", "/help", "?", or "/?", but that varies between vehicle makers. Look for a how-to notecard either in your Inventory or in the vehicle itself (Right-click, Edit, Content tab).

* If it still doesn't seem to work, contact the vehicle maker and ask why.

I created the car, and it's been around a while. This is the first time I've heard of this problem, so if I'm a scammer I'm not very good :)

There aren't any commands, you just sit in it and hit the walk keys to move: W, A, S, D. If you're on tonight TP me over and I'll try to reproduce it.

Have you tried other cars? There are free cars at YadNi's junkyard, and Aaron Perkins sells a $1 car with a script. I'd be curious to see if it's just the Mambo or if you get the same results with other vehicles.

I'm a fan of Milo's work. He's not a scammer, I can assure you of that -- if he was, he'd be charging you L$10,000 for a pretty-looking car with no (or a defective) script inside that sends you herkily-jerkily heading towards the clutches of Siggy in Taber ;). But Milo ain't! =)

Here's another thing: if you're using an Animation Overrider, turn that off before driving a car. It can interfere, and yes, stop it from going anywhere. Also, it sounds obvious, but close chat bar if you're going to use the alphabetical walk keys (as opposed to the arrow keys).

I hope you get your car ridin', Fallon! :D
