I know this is probably a dumb question, but I've been playing since md-October, and I have yet to figure out what the differences really are between "mature" and "PG" lands... both types appear to lend themselves to the same land uses. Why do they differ so much in value?

In principle, being unclothed or having sexually oriented materials (art, photos, toys) or using profanity in open chat are prohibited in PG areas. In practice, someone would have to care, report you, and you could be sanctioned for it (probably a three day suspension on first offense). I have never seen this happen to someone who wasn't blatently trying to annoy people. Still, technically them's the rules, so please don't run around naked shouting profanity while carrying a dildo in a PG sim and say I told you it was ok.  |

And none of the preceeding means that you can't go to an M sim and do any of those things. Most parties are held in M sims for obvious reasons. Home land in SL is an odd concept anyway, mostly a place to hold your stuff. I SLed landless for 4 months, it didn't really change the experience much.
