Group IM spam is starting to bother me.
Then there is my favorite: redundant group IM spam... where someone decides to advertise on a group channel that they are selling their 14-and-a-half meters in some terrible sim... and then I get to listen to “joebob has left the session” 130 times, AND THEN they repeat the add in another group channel we are both members of.
Then there is noise pollution / sim spam:
I now have a new neighbor who feels its necessary to announce to the sim whenever someone opens his door:
Front Door V 1.2 shouts: "Wooooo-Hooooo BillyJoeBob is at the front door."
Like anyone cares?
I tried to send him subtle messages by shouting back:
"No one cares!"
"I really don't need to know that!"
"You are making my pet dog chew off his own leg, stop all the shouting now in the name of all thats good!"
He is like some kind of eternal torment in hell.

Worse than group IMs (Which I'm normally fine with... the largest group I'm in is Kaze, and most chatter in that group tends to be good stuff) is the people who just drag their entire calling card list into IMs about stuff I could care less about. I really don't care which DJ is broadcasting from where, for example... I've listened to a radio broadcast one time in SL, and I don't expect I ever will again.
But much, much worse, are flyby spams... Things that give out notecards to anyone in range. Those things are starting to royaly piss me off... I run popup blockers in the real world, but I don't really have something I can use for that in SL.
I've just adopted the policy now that I won't buy from any store that gives me a popup. Petty, maybe. Inconsequential, sure. But it's about the only recourse I have.

LOL I have another neighbor in another sim that uses those. I read the TOS and it states there should be no unwanted notecard spam. I though it was about the same thing as those vile IE popups. Why any human would want to subject another human being to a pop-up add for 0.000002 cents an add, I dont know.

Keep every single one of those notecards that you get, then return them to the owner, one at a time, once a minute until they agree to stop spamming.

Yes, please, for the love of God do as Hank says, and as the others have said too.
I had my message quota and email box filled up with 25 emailed messages because some folks decided to use conference IMs as a nifty place to chatter. Very annoying.
And I also refuse to shop at places that send notecard spam.

What I like to do when someone spams me is track them down, stun them with a mild anesthetic, and feed them to my children.

I will send an IM to everyone whose calling card I have whenever I see fit (which has been once so far, not enough people showed up to my event so I asked my "friends" to come if they weren't busy). Amusingly enough Hank snapped on my for that. If you don't want group IMs, leave every group and tear up the calling card of everyone who has ever done that to you. Feel free to start with mine. I won't be hurt. We just have a difference in opinion about what they are for.

I have handed out calling cards maybe three times ever. I have Hank's card because he gave it to me. Just like the other 100 or so people on my list. I figured I am being spammed by there logging on and off day in and day out so when I have something to tell them they can hear it. Or maybe they all just wanted to be my best friend, that could be it too.
