HL2 Walkthrough Tips

I am finally stuck. I finally resorted to looking for a walk through to help get past where I am, but none of them are complete enough to include the section I am in. So, I turn to you that have finished it already.

I am at the beginning of the "Follow Freeman" section. The tower is sending down a suppression attack and there are two gates with forcefields. Barney said we need to get inside to shut it down, but I see no options for moving towards that goal. Any hints?

This is the bit with the two walkers and that nasty deathray thing?

If so, you need to run to the right, and duck under the crater/ruin bits in the road. At the far end there is a reasonably intact building, and you can get in a door on the side of that.

It took me quite a lot of panicked running around to find that, too.

I am stuck at the part where you get the ant lions to follow you down the beach and you get to an area where there's an upper platform surrounding two large pipes and no apparent way to get up to the upper platform... hints anyone???

I'm not sure if I'm thinking of the same bit... the big assed structure up the side of the cliff face near the top just after the boat/ramp cave?

There's a ladder lo the left of the left pipe!

Edit: Oh wait! I know what you've done... you're at the bottom just after the sentry gun. Go back out and further right along the beach, and climb up a cliff path.

Yeah it's after all the sentry guns on the beach, and there's a cliff path that leads to a spot where u have to jump across the water off of a log, then there's a campfire at the base of the next path and that path leads to the lower platform just above where the two big pipes end (they have a grille across them). Yes there is a ladder up to a middle platform on the left side but nowhere to go above that and I can clearly see that there's another platform at the top. It's somewhere in the beginning of the Nova Prospect segment. I will post a screenshot when I get home tonight if ya still can't tell where I mean.

Right. From the first platform, you jump off to the right.. there are two supply crates there. Follow the path.
