Fill out my shoppers' surveys in Columbia, $75.
Hire yourself out to take photos or do other chores for mall owners, many of those large companies like anshechung.com and secondlifeland.com have job openings. Work for stores as a purchasing agent, look in the employment opportunities. Makes some clothes even just in "appearnces" and sell the outfits in the free bazaar areas or rent a $25 box from me per week to try sales. Go to contests, watch the events list. Play the casinos, you never know, but remember why they call Las Vegas "Lost Wages". Figure out if there is something you can teach and charge money for lessons. Sell TPs to the new continent _____________________
Rent stalls and walls for $25-$50/week 25-50 prims from Ravenglass Rentals, the mall alternative.

This is precisely my problem, Xyle. I'm a basic player, too. Here is how I have made my money:
1. Playing trivia whenever I can find it. There aren't enough trivia contests. 2. Playing mind-numbing hours of Bingo. (Fortunately, I like Bingo.) I soon discovered some people who offer Bingo do not offer any of the prize money, but depend entirely on donations by the players. (I think that sucks, by the way.) So from the onset, I made it my policy to contribute to the pot, but only AFTER I win, and then, only 10% of my winnings, rounded up to the nearest $10. This is my policy in all contests involving pots. To do otherwise would make playing them a costly recreation I can't afford, rather than the living it actually provides. 3. Ditto Slingo. I would play Tringo, too, but I don't understand it. 4. Flying around to money trees. New players can do this for the first 30 days. Type "money tree" under search to find the places. The best time to do this is in the morning, USA time. You can get up to $25 a tree. (Unfortunately, I had to do most of my tree-flitting at night, when they were usually pretty stripped, offering only 2-3 bucks maybe, but I kept at it doggedly anyway.) 5. Joining Samauri Treasure Hunters group. Each Tuesday night, you can search for treasure chests on that property, and often get rewarded with $21 in the chest (or more). The lag is pretty rough there, but it's still fun. 6. Look on the events calendar for "Free Slots" events. There is a place, geez, I can't remember the name right now, where the owner, Moonshine somebody - I'm blank on his last name, too - lets you play his slots free for an hour. Sit there and click away for an hour, and you can make around $80-100. (More if you hit a jackpot, which I never have.) There is also a money ball, and you can win that, too, while you're there. (Like about $100.) 7. Go to Captions, also on the event schedule, on Wednesday nights. There, if you are very clever, your caption to the funny picture might get voted for most, and you could win money, the amount dependent on the amount of donations Trimming Hedges has to offer - maybe $50, maybe more. I once won $200 for my caption. Whether you win or not, though, this is worth it, because it is just so funny and so much fun! 8. Playing Find-a-Word when it is offered at the Elbow Room. I once won that, too. Other people have contests for sexiest this and that avatar, or costume contests, but I don't enter those. 9. Never buy anything. Be an extremely picky consumer. I have shopped a lot, but bought only one vase (which is beautiful) from that Mexican town lot, unfortunately I forget the name of that place; and one wall hanging (which it turned out I couldn't use), at $20 each. And recently I bought an adorable beach set, with chairs, towel, umbrellas, and piggie pool floatie all packed into an adorable pink duffel bag, from Shagz Anubis, for only $135. That is all I have ever spent in this game, outside of the $1 freebie boxes. These are the ways I have made enough money to "buy" a plot of land at the Meins Residential Community, and to save up enough money to pay "tier" on it each week without getting too panicky. (I'm several weeks ahead at this point.) I get 472 prims there, and it is a wonderful place to live, so I am a happy camper. Even THOUGH I'm allowed to have only a basic membership. My house is furnished almost entirely with free items, available everywhere, including, especially, Yadni's junkyard ($1 a boxful of free items) and also, geez, what is it called - the something-or-other Bazaar. It was apparently a place made by the Lindens, and you can pick up quite a few free things there. You can also get free items at many, many places in the world. (You should see my inventory!) Barnsworth Anubis and Ingrid Ingersoll have wonderful free furniture you can run across here and there. Then, too, some of the things in my house were gifts, or I made them myself. My wardrobe is made up entirely of free clothing available at the aforementioned places; though I have won some of it as prizes. Now, I have done quite a bit of money-making in the ways I outlined above. It's time-consuming, but it has allowed me to have the home I want. This is all preparation for the plan I have for the future, which is to build and sell, probably houses. For that, study at the Ivory Tower of Prims (I think it's called), where you guide yourself through floors of self-teaching. I have completed the first two floors, and built a number of objects for myself, including my front porch. Because I think the only way to make money in the game if you are a basic member, besides winning it, is to make and sell things. And now, I'm off to fill out Prok's survey, lol. coco P.S. Power to the Basic Members!!! Basic Members Unite!!! ah - i see a post by him: It's Moonshine Herbst. |

Great post and great ideas, Coco! You should make that into a FAQ.
And sell it for $1. ![]() |

How do I make money as a basic? By making things and selling them.
All the land I use is rented. You rent at a place and if you don't make more than your rent you leave. The only thing you can't do as a basic is play the land speculation game, and earn traffic (which apparently is a pittance anyway). Some landlords will put your shop in find for $30 a week. Only do this with one shop unless you have stuff that is significantly different to justify two with different key-words. I now earn enough a week through sales to rent land for a house as well as two shops, and countless retail outlets. Play with the creation tools and see where your strengths lie. Scripting classes are good (I recommend the Learning Center's ones) and play with photoshop/the gimp if you have them to try making clothes. (the gimp is free). Maybe you are good at building? There is a large prefab housing market. The more you practice the better you will get and the more money you will make. |

What is the best way to make money if you are a non premium besides selling Avatars? Thanks. I think some of the responses have been geared more towards providing you with a variety of options vs. actual money making enterprises. The reality is that if your avie is female, you should escort to make the most money available to you. If your avie is a dude, become a chick. The purists will whine and tell you how that is so wrong, that going to TRINGO and making $100 in maybe 8 hours of play is the way to go. Turn tricks, be a whore and make a helluva lot more. Sad but true. |

Money Tree!!
04-04-2005 14:30
I just made a money tree in Picnic, near the edge!
it works as my neighbors have been eating the banana's and apples, i think each one averages 10L maybe? maybe less, and the 1L leaves of the tree! http://www.sluniverse.com/pics/pic.aspx?id=4173&sort=PictureID+desc&Name=daz+Groshomme http://www.sluniverse.com/pics/pic.aspx?id=4170&sort=PictureID+desc&Name=daz+Groshomme _____________________

I'll pay you $250 / hour if you wear the avatar costume I give you and let everyone around you know that I'm the coolest dude around.
