I have shut down the Bhodi Tree Gallery (very) temporarily while I look for a new home for it. Recently, several complaints have been made by patrons/artists about having to come to Jessie to visit the Gallery, and even more complaints have been made by a new set of Jessians who wanted it gone.

After looking at the past several months, I had to finally admit my interest in making the BTG a sort of civilian-presence-with-power (like, say, the Red Cross of Rick's American Cafe in Cassablanca <grin>;) just isn't goin got happen. Jessie isn't really a "combat sim" because nothing is lost or gained by being killed. Instead, it's become simply a "lawless" sim. Which is also okay, but that means there is no role for the gallery and that the complaints about us being there are actually pretty valid. Cause you can't have events in a lawless sim, and I can get pretty grumpy when someone bumps me into the stratosphere when I don't wanna play.

So, poof, we're not there anymore! If you had work exhibited there, it has been returned to you - but hopefully you'll bring it back once we get up and running in new digs!

Bhodi

P.S. If you have any land to sell (big honking chunks of land, that is... I'm looking for 3000 meters) and you'd like to sell them to the Gallery project, please let me know!

Cy, thanks, but isn't your land in Jessie? <grin> That was the point of moving! And I"m looking to buy land from someone who has it, not just to rent or lease. But that's very, very nice of you to offer!

You can dump some of the sculptures on top of my house in Olive, there's some room on the roof, the only problem is i'm not entirely sure how many prims I have left on my land, though i'm sure the new UI i've been hearing about will tell you.

Thanks all for the offers and the "we'll miss you" messages, but I'm not leaving or shutting down the gallery for good, just moving it! I'm still hoping to find a better plot of land, but just in case I don't, I've bought some land in Rich that could be made to suffice!

Update

I have, with LOTS of help from Second Life art patrons, been able to acquire a well shaped and sizeable plot of land in Rich. Currently, LordFly is working on the gallery itself, and I am going to be working on the basics of the sculpture garden.

I hope that all the artists whose items I unfortunately had to return for the move will bring them back to the Gallery for display - and also that people will bring new works! We'll have more space and a better design for exhibiting. Even better, you no longer risk sudden death or annoying bump scripts when you come to visit us!

Bhodi, who is just tickled pink!

well thats too bad,the gallery wasnt a problem in jessie.

you werent complaining and such about being shot like some people have done in the past which is about my only gripe with folks who move into jessie.

its not like there is running "theme" in jessie since htere are so many other non combat themed homes so the gallery wasnt messing anything up.

but whatever,if thats the decision you made thats fine, maybe i'll come check out the new location sometime.

Chauncy,

Thanks and I hope you do come visit! I'm glad the gallery wasn't a problem in Jessie, but Jessie was becoming a bit of a problem for the gallery, I'm afraid. While I always enjoyed the excitement of not knowing what was going to happen, a few newcomers had taken to leaving some malicious scripts on my land that simply made planning events impossible - since I never knew if on a given day the land would be usable! As I was preparing to duke it out with them, I realized something - they SHOULD be allowed to booby trap my land in Jessie, and I was being a big old baby about it! I'm not a good enough scripter to combat the traps, and so I have no business in Jessie if all the recourse I have is running to the Lindens. Jessie is the badlands, after all... and I just wasn't bad enough! But it was fun to be there for a while, and I love my new land, so all's well that ends well!
