According to Mediaweek, the Parents Television Council was responsible for 99.8% of all indecensy complaints to the FCC in 2003.

Through October of this year, Parents Television Council has filed 99.9% of all complaints.

To put this in perspective, in 2000 and 2001, the FCC recieved 350 complaints. That number increased to 14,000 in 2002, and in 2003 it totaled 240,000!!

The Parents Television Council is a conservative activist group dedicated to fighting against 'indecent' content on T.V. They have labeled shows such as That 70's Show, Fear Factor, Two and a Half Men, C.S.I., Will and Grace, etc. on thier 'worst' list. PTC is also a huge supporter of the Family Movie Act.

There also seems to be some dispute over the validity of and the number of complaints. Media Week state that in one case surrounding the show Married by America, they recieved 159 compliants. After some investigation, it turns out the number was 90 complaints, filed by 23 individuals. All but four of the complaints were identical, and only one complainant confirmed they had watched the show.

Just one of those things that make you go 'hmmmmm'. ;)

I read about this too.

It's such a shame that someone is holding a gun to their heads and making them watch these shows.

They are so busy writing letters in order to save everyone from boobie, suggestive language and heathenistic sexual inuendos that they have little time to find the remote so their tele's are stuck on the 700 club.
Anyhow why should they actually get the facts when it is far easier to react to something without understanding all those silly plots and such.

They also filed a complaint against NBC for their Olympics coverage.

What was the objectionable material?

Greek guys in bodysuits dressed to look like statues.

I'd be curious to see if they have any ties to the cable industry.
