I dreamt of this... in a dream... I have been incredibly blessed to find out about SL and meet some fiiine people here, my fellow human beings in the walk of existence -- as well as avatars marching towards the future of what is indeed a promising technological "toy" and much, much more.

Now, forum drama -- I've got enough of that. Redundant and mean-spirited, and petty in hindsight as there is a much bigger picture in which we should playing positive roles. Conflict can't be eradicated and it has always been with us as humans, but what is also with us are the good things in life: simple pleasures like eating cream of wheat (which I have not yet) or sitting down on a beanbag chair; and JOY, HAPPINESS, HOPE, CONTENTMENT, AWWWNESS, BEING MOST EXCELLENT, and... LOVE. :D

I would like to use this thread to celebrate our happy memories in SL, whether they just happened right before we happened to hit the forums -- in fact, if something kickass just happened and you want to post about it, go ahead! -- or if they happened a number of weeks, months, even over a year, but we want to celebrate and recognize what has made happy. Life can suck, so when times are tough, it's important to remember passing moments that have touched our hearts, made us smile, and even made us laugh our asses off! w00h00. I might even dare to call it being twice-alive, and in fact, I just did. :)

Think AND feel... and post!!! :D

Simple as that.

I'll get us started. Here are some of mine, in no particular order:
  1. Sleeping in the Midnight City Dumpster for warmth and comfort. I was watching Aimee wrangle roads today, and from the looks of it, it may be that MC expands into a second Sim sooner or later. ;)

  2. Talking with Atmos Kuroda about honesty in SL and his co-run SLAC shop, as was recently highlighted in a thread by Hiro.

  3. Taking a UPS truck that Kenny Zapata graciously made, with all mods, turning it neon colors in a matter of minutes, and driving it up to the Welcome Area to greet passerby

  4. My first visit to SimCast -- getting sucked into the giant skeleton thingy's mouth was QUITE a trip! :)

  5. Checking out Starax Statosky's creations at Backstage/Nowall... some crazy stuff, and of course, the word "crazy" coming from me is a good thing! What's even more, I had a chance to chat with him and I felt enwondered as he explained his spontaneous, passionate mode of creation!

  6. Late-nite points in the timeline with Oz Spade... I hope there are more. It's funny, every now and then, I'll either meet up with Oz at some possibly ungodly hour (i.e. 4 AM PDT) and he'll have something I should see, or somewhere we should go. The latest one would be his grafitti building in Sistiana. I felt surreal visiting it again.

  7. Late-nite, deep conversations with several people. Especially when I am on the edge of sleepiness but not so sleepy that I can't type anymore. Those moments cross over into my dreams.

  8. Every time Toy LaFollette laughs.

  9. Looking at Jade Lily's smile and nose... and Jade I'm sooo sorry for bailing at Coffee Scene!

  10. HoseQueen McLean not only making new watermelon-themed eyes for me, but a tux in the same spirit! OMG... *spazzes out and runs around* hehe

  11. Being with Mandy Morgan and Akasha Craven on the top of a quiet Club Elite, before Mandy had a surprise to show. She lifted our chairs into the chair, and then proceeded to blast off fireworks.

  12. Every time Torrid Midnight says "reticulating splines"

  13. Every time Taeja Diaz goes "Oh my gawd!" or Cristiano Midnight laughs. LAYER YOUR VOICES!

  14. YIPYIPYIP ('nuff said) :P

  15. Going for a ride in Kim Anubis's Cubey Ornithopter. Despite the lag, she flew admirably before we settled down at the airport.

  16. Every time Kex Godel answers one of my questions

  17. Being on Lady Dawson's Island in Miru. Just . . . being alive, in both First Life and Second Life.

Nice idea for a thread. Keep up the positive words on the forums.
  1. Coding games with Darwin Appleby
  2. Tagging Oz Spades Graffiti project
  3. Meeting people from new world notes and the forums in game after I first joined
  4. Helping my first new player question
  5. Refering internet friends to SL and meetiing them in game.
  6. Hanging out in Aleph
  7. Exploring the new snow sims with a few friends.
  8. Oktoberfest!
  9. Making my first clothing item (the iPants)
  10. More to come later :)

  1. Writing my first script and realizing how powerful SL could really be.

  2. Selling our first D&D Dog, Darwood, when our shop was in Clara/Perry.

  3. After my first Stargate got deleted, re-creating it from scratch and having it come out WAY better. Also, writing the code to make the Stargate work myself, as opposed to paying Xylor to write it for me like I did the first time (and Xylor did a GREAT job and inspired me to get into LSL)

  4. Discovering physics for the first time.

oooh, what a great thread :D
My moments are sortof general- they all run together. But the following are what keeps me logging back in.

-Being able to share khef with my hubby Neil, in first life and this one. I cant get enough of him. :D

-Meeting, getting to know, becoming the closest of friends with Tae, who adds humor and richness to both my lives, and knows just when to remind me of my own advice. :p

-Every time I get an appreciative IM from my customers- it makes the tedious parts of the business a joy. <3

-Helping people. It takes different forms, but it's always the most personally rewarding when I and the helpee are the only ones who know.

There is one moment that I CAN pinpoint-
When I first met you, Torley. First time i've heard midworld lingo from anyone outside my household. You have NO clue how that made my night. ;)

Moments I look forward to:
Pinning Torley down as soon as i finish The Dark Tower and having a long discussion about it. :p

I could go on and on and on.

Mostly I love how easy it is to meet so many wondeful creative people. These are the kind of people I love to deal with in RL, and the fact that we are connected to so many in SL is just terrific. I can IM anyone, and do - and vice versa. "Hey, I love this build / etc, let's chat... etc" and bam, you're talking with gifted people, even the very game developers!

In the time I've been here I've met talented innovators who think little of themselves and push the bounds of how SL operates. I've met people with no formal computer training building wonderful homes and avatars and toys. I've seen average people be so inspired that they learn brand new skills and discover artistic and technical skills they never had. I've seen smart, computer savvy people excel and let their imagination run wild.

Amazing. Simply amazing, from day 1. Day ONE.

*SNIFF* I promised myself I wouldn't cry!

SL really has been an amazing thing to me. I'd always wanted a place that you could make ANYTHING you can dream of happen. I was so happy when I found it, and even more happy to meet such wonderful people. It's sort of put an "everything's gonna be OK" on humanity for me :D

I may end up quoting Atmos on a few things here

-Meeting my first avatar, Jeff Linden
-Hitting the fly button for the first time and flying around like crazy
-Saying "Please give me some money" to the parrot and getting some
-First time on the mainlands (away from Orientation Islands, though I wish I could have spent a little longer exploring them!)
-Texing and creating my first outfit which was a cosplay of an original character of mine: a samurai
-Finding myself for the first time in the Cordova Sandbox, at night nonetheless, watching people build extremely weird looking animals and an extremely large amount of Potato Men being tested by Twist Zaius I believe
-Going to my first event ever and winning it (an obstacle course hosted by Taylor Thompson)
-Exploring Shangri-La, that little Japanese village complete with a castle and castle walls
-Asking Daniel Linden for help on building a katana for the first time and ending up having him show me the basics of building (but first TPing him to Shangri-La where I was)
-Building a kickass (literally) katana with Hikaru Yamamoto
-Hosting my first event at Shangri-La where a lot of people actually came!
-Finding myself at the old NightBreed castle where I met several interesting people, Aimee Weber in particular, who's still on my calling-card list
-Meeting Darque Grimm, who was creating a Naraku avatar (from Inuyasha) and watching him perform all his badass scripting tricks on my avatar relating to Naraku's powers. Then, flying my AG Hovercraft with Aidenn Brodie over the sandbox and suddenly BAM!! Naraku (Darque Grimm) is sitting in it with us!!
-Having a pirate ship battle with Jack Skallagrimson on my side vs Zate Kojima and his well crafted little tallship
-Getting my best RL friend Aidenn Brodie on to SL
-Discovering the Vampire Empire only after Aidenn Brodie introduced me to liking Ann Rice's vampires and such
-Getting a crazy old friend of mine Drake Belvedere on to SL
-Getting my picture taken with several other ppl for the r3cords.com page!
-Building two avatars from the anime Hellsing (Integral and Alucard) with Aidenn Brodie at the DarkTales castle built by Tink Buttercup
-Meeting the freakiest vamp-wench ever, Katja Eisenberg (I still have to see what becomes of this)
-Coming here, seeing my name so kindly listed by Atmos Kuroda and feeling so proud of him for how accomplished he is since I last saw him!
-Looking forward to what each new day on SL has in store for us!

STOOPID DRAMA!!!!!!!!111

^ meant humorously, sort of sarcastic. But not really. ;)

Oh... wait... *smiles softly*

I'm overjoyed to read and re-read these experiences you have had in Second Life. All the little highlights that can be linked together and have contributed to your enjoyment as a whole. Ahhh. *sighs smoothly*.

Kimiko, rumor has it I've been sent back in time to stop Jeff. Muhahaha. ;) Some of those surreal moments you shared are fantastic. Highlights that stick out. I've never done a pirate ship battle before. I'll have to.

Mojo, a warm welcome to Second Life. Glad you've taken to it so well! :)

It's been said, "you never forget your first time".

Thanks... I'm always inspired to hear things like this. :D

Thank you!! Yes, you need to have a pirate ship battle. It was awesome - we built our ships, threatened each other in the sandbox, then I went to Kissling and Jack scripted cannons that shoot cannonballs (you may still find some in the Kissling water). So Zate came and we fired on each other. Then we fought each other with swords - was a blast. I've been trying to build a new ship but due to how...big i want it to be and still sail, i havent had much luck...yet. Stupid linking problems....the prim WAS NOT "too far apart".

Yes - welcome to SL Mojo! And i'd say the same as Torley

And that's completely true - you never forget your first time. You've inspired me as well, Torley! thanks so much

EDIT: JEEZ you people post fast!! pardon how outdated this post is, ppl!

Hmmm... my happiest moments...

Our wedding! It has to be... Back in January 2004 when Julia Curie made me feel truly alive in SL.

The day Mochastyle opened... I don't remember the date, but it was January or February. We had a big fashion show, just Julia and I, but about 60 outfits and 15 models...

The day I realised I loved Freya... (is there anything to add to this?)

Just as long as you keep her there long enough for me to arrive! I have the first few books in first editions with illustrations. I still have to finish the last. Will there ever be a series to rival The Dark Tower? And when will I see a well thought out movie edition?

Oh wow, I have so many! Mostly with Dek of course! Our long talks, exploring SL together, ect.

I have met countless number of wonderful and helpful people in SL. The first person I remember meeting is Elphy Madison. She showed me around and taught me alot about SL. If it wasn't for her I would have been one very lost newbie.

First Clubs I frequented was the Wet Spot, Flame and Club Zodiac. Great clubs and still friends with all the orginal girls from the Wet Spot (annie, amunet and barbii).

First Garden I visited (which is my inspiration for my park) was Atis Garden. I was so sad when that was sold that I vowed to make something similar and finally my SL dream came true.

First Shopping experience was at Sage Open Air Market. I was so in awwww with all the stuff that people made. I can't remember the first thing I bought...but it was the beginning of an addiction. Thanks alot Anshe!! :p

I have had so much fun in my short SL life (5 1/2 months now). I'm am truely blessed with all the friends I have made. All that I have accomplished so far is just amazing and I have everyone that is creative in SL to thank for that. I don't think people realize that they actually inspire someone along the way with their creations to be creative themselves.

I really do love SL and am happy its part of my RL.

Thank you Torley for starting this great thread.

Huggerz,
MJ

I have had so much fun in SL and sometimes I think to write a book about all my memories in SL.
I am Happy because,
I have a lot of friends and have a lot of fun with them in SL,
I made a lot of Sculptures and Creations,
I designed my own fashion,
I created Babies...( not in boxes :p )
and ...

I am very Happy in SL and I have only Happy memories in SL.

All the stupid stuff I've done with everyone -- far to much to list every single individual instance....

Probably the best times have all be spontaneous -- 3 or 4 people getting together and just deciding to be 'not bored'.

Siggy.
