Ok--
Since some of you have issues with the Radiks family, why not come see us TODAY?
I (and probably some others) will be in world from 5-6pm EST. So, come on in and ask us ANYTHING you want about what we are doing and why we are here!
This way we can clear the air on the whole issue. The flaming posts in these forums are getting a little out of control.
So, come on in and say hi!
Our campus is located in ALICE. It has a great big fence around it...kinda hard to miss. Near the river. I would post the coordinates, but Im not at my SL computer right now.
OR drop me (tluskie radiks) an IM. Or if you run in to any other Radiks, Im sure they would love to chat.
See you there.
(PS - Nothing will be posted or taken out of SL without your knowledge)

Good idea. But then, if there's one thing to learn about SL's residents, is you won't mollify some of them, ever.
They'll just keep crusading until they "win".

TLuskie, I think I might do that, but I don't get home until 6pm cst (7 est). I just graduated college about 9 months ago myself, and I love meeting and talking to new people! Hopefully I can catch some of you in game tonight Jess

Thanks for doing that Tluskie if any of you come to "Radiks campus" in Alice, be sure to check out the class' awesome building project - the circle of chairs! I had each student design a chair, then reflect on the process/purpose of building in Second Life. They enjoyed it immensely. -megan

Sitting with TLuskie right now. It's a good chat, I'm sorry there isn't a higher turnout, but there's still time.

Think he'll set out to win some of the others? The last boss is just too hard. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- But yeah, I've been curious to meet some of the Radiks family anyway. Keep an eye or other appropriate body part out for me.

Why didn't we have classes and assignments like this when I was in college?
*grumble*

I don't think the flaming was out of control at all. You folks have been posting in a way that sounds like you're merely interested in simple debate when obviously you're looking for material for academic study that you'll get credit for.
I think you would have found residents being 100x more helpful if you were more upfront about it all.
There was an example of a resident who did a research project in SL. Residents loaned him MONEY to get it completed.

Thanks TLuskie and Megan, that was a gracious offer. I hope this will do much to reduce the rancor. And the residents of SL are a wildly opininated group, moreso on the forums. But in my experience even the most vitriolic on the forums are often good, nice folk in game. Hmm, I'll pay any Radiks L$1000 for a 5 paragraph essay on why that might be. This is a serious offer and might help the Radiks' who have lamented lack of funds. And yes, I too am envious that I never had this as a course offering

The issue was with being observed/researched while not being adequately notified. I've no problem with the Radiks family or with the course the Radiks family is taking. I would probably take the class in a heartbeat.

Alas - I work evenings/nights Hopefully I'll run into someone at somepoint and say hi -- something to pass on to everyone in the classroom though: Don't base studies on me I'm certainly not a reliable source for anything -- I'm an asshat and a smartarse, my SecondLife "job" is doing as little as possible that is actually practical or in any way beneficial... I judge the merit of most things in terms of how much it makes me laugh. I'm 1/3 Man of Leisure, 1/3 Demented Mad Scientist, 1/3 Pervert. Siggy.

I met TLusikie and some friends briefly per their invitation and I didn't get cooties or anything . In fact, I walked in on a discussion they were having with some long time residents and was reminded how much fun it was to hang around college and have bull sessions about "what is art?" and "how does one define good?". Okay, so it was in a PG sim so they weren't talking about the other perrenial college topic of "how do I get into X's pants" which probably made them a little *more* mature seeming than I remember being at that time. Anyway, welcome Radikses, well met.
