But obviously, since this is the Off Topic folder, I'm not talking about Second Life.

So what's the worst game-buying experience you've all had, say in the past four years?

Right now, personally, I'm staring with sheer loathing at the 'Universal Combat' box sitting on my desk next to me. Goddamn you, Derek Smart, for changing the title from Battlecruiser 3000 and taking your name off the cover! I've been snickering up my sleeve at him for years over this game, then the bastard tricks me into buying it! Grrr...

Wow... now I feel stupid for having admitted that I bought that.

The most pathetic game I have ever seen.. hum.... that's a tough one, I'm rather picky about purchasing titles, and look deep into their reviews and such.

I have to admit though the most pathetic game I've played was TSO. Drama central.

Next in line would had been EverQuest. Played that for 2 weeks and got bored!

I took my TSO disk and layed it on the desk nicely ... stared at it ... and wondered "why do I have this?" ... Left the room, came back with a hammer, sat down quietly ... looked at it again ... stood up ... raised up the hammer ... *BANG* *BANG* *BANG* *BANG* *BANG* *BANG* *BANG* *BANG* *BANG* *BANG* ... No more TSO!

"There" has been the worst investment I made. And it truly was a fricken investment. About $300.00 worth. But if it hadn't been for There, I might have not heard of SL.

Two Months in Star Wars Galaxies beta: $15 (you had to buy the discs/shipping, at least I think it was a "had to" thing)

Two copies of Star Wars Galaxies Collector's Edition: $160

Five attempts at playing Star Wars Galaxies longterm: $120

Finding barely anything to do but roam the "Terrain Generator" they called a world, or blowing up bushy nest after bushy nest: Priceless

Because it taught me to never spend that kind of $ on collector editions of a game unless I REALLY REALLY like it.

WORST PURCHASES
The Sims Online Probably the most pointless game ever made.

Anything EA sports made in 2004. They changed stuff and lost this 10 year loyal customer.

Black and White

BEST
Doom 3 <--- Which I consider a work of art. The graphics in that game should be hung in an art gallery.

Half-Life
Any Gran Turismo
Wizards and Warriors (8 bit nintendo)

Aaah, I bought Black and WHite on a friend's suggestion and never got the hang of it. Well, really i never understood the point of it, besides terrorizing the villagers.

Airport Tycoon 2 was terrible. I will admit that for some reason, I recall liking the first one, so i saw the second sitting at EB used for some cheap price, so i picked it up on a whim and they destroyed the best parts of the game. Bleh.

Half-Life may've been my best game purchase, especially with it's expandibility via mods. MS Flight Sim 2002 was a personal favorite until the disc got scratched up (thanks to a meddling brother)
