Selling an entire PG sim?

Out of curiousity, why would the Lindens market an entire sim rated PG? (Alviso is up for auction.)
If one is to purchase a sim, wouldn't it stand to reason that an M rating would allow the new owner more flexibility -- PG or M, if personally desirable? -- and therefore make the sim appealing to a wider customer base.
Or does Alviso indicate that the Lindens build land barony into their sales strategies and occasionally offer an entire PG sim on the expectation that it will be parceled out and sold?

I think the point was -- you can hold a mainland M sim to PG standards if you wish, but you can't hold a PG sim to M standards. So why restrict the market by selling off entire PG sims?
Not sure that island rentals shed any light on the question, but someone tell me if I'm wrong.

Not sure that island rentals shed any light on the question, but someone tell me if I'm wrong. if i could choose, i would have a pg sim. it is much cheaper. a mature sim will lock in 1800 USD. a pg sim will lock in under 1000 USD. i couldn't stay away for more than 12 hours. i'm pathetic

I mean, sure, you could kick people for cussing, I suppose, but then they'd go complaining about the fact that it's a mature rated sim. Having it set to PG defines certain rules that everyone KNOWS they have to follow, or else the Lindens get medieval. |

The two sims I frequent the most are both PG, Boardman and Telador Isle. I'll cruise around other areas, sure, but my client PC appears to have a better time in those two (probably due to the shorter overall loading times). It's also a personal preferance. I prefer quiet areas when dealing with SL, as I get enough excitement at work and RL, thank you very much.

The pg rating gives you some leverage to ask people to modify their behavior. They come in and be obscene when you don't want them to and it's M rated but you tell them you're pretending it's PG. Na, being able to buy a pg sim on the mainland is good. |
