Well now that a few days have passed , we can "take a look" at the Halftime/Janet Scandle. I can't believe the volume of "fallout" this haas generated! Personally, I fail to see what all the "big Flap" is about. Now we find that the idea was "implanted" by the genious Boy Band Leader Timberlake! Seems the rumor is he wanted to get back at his ex bacause of the "highly visable" Kiss. Planned! How shocking that a womam's breast be exposed for 2 seconds, bodacious tatas they are.....LMFAO! I'm sorry, but one more "semi-serious" comment will cause me an imbolism! Seriously, I wanted to say how ashamed America should be for getting so worked up over this tripe! It makes me want to go around and smack our collective back of the head! An exposed breast? Who gives a F/%*K! These same vocalists think nothing of 2 hours of "Chainsaw Massacre" Or "Feddie and Jason - BREEDING". They think nothing of the children killing each other in the streets , where it's easier to get a gun than a cop! Not to mention the starvation, the homeless, our terminal supply of fresh water....OMG!!! Before you kick me off the soapbox - 1 important fact everyone overlooked. This was not a sexual showing of a breast for "titilation. This was an act of violence of a man towards a woman, not a 'titilating' scene acted out for the millions to see. We have become more concerned at a nipple shot than a seemingly ignored violent act. It's no wonder the collective world snickers and points as we walk past! I think the problem most people have is with the deception. Here you have two performers who are both reputedly "past it", using a captive audience to promote their faltering careers with a sleazy bondage routine. The venue was innapropriate for what they did, but having done it, they should have owned up to it and not tried to pawn it off as the result of a defective outfit. The entire halftime show was just a giant excess of tasteless vulgarity anyways. It's just insulting people's intelligence to expect them to believe that anyone would have a giant piece of ironmongery spiked to their boob like that if they weren't explicitly planning in some way to display it.

What got me was my wife saw an article where a father said his little kids were extremely distressed at the sight. Wha? Your kids havn't seen a breast before? I guess some people never breast feed their kids but... to have it such that they are distressed at the sight of one? What are they gonna do at the beach? Go into seizures?
I think you are right Zygo, the focus of Americans is far off base. At the same time that shows like Terminator can show prime time (and we elect the killer as governer /sigh any states looking for a computer programmer?), the sight of a womans breast sends america into a furror. We show pride in violence and shame at the human form. There is a difference between nudity and lewdity (is that a word?).
So where is the petition to sign for changing the moral compas of america?

Good post Ama I think the funniest part of all of it is CBS and MTV trying to pretend it wasn't intentional. I really hate it when people insult my intelligence that way. Yeah it was an accident... that must be why she had snap on bra cups and was waring a silver pasty to cover her nipple!

Personaly I'd be pissed if I was sitting there with my kid watching a game and all the sudden theres a boob. I wouldn't be freaking out about, but its an unexpected hassle to then have to tell your child what the hell that was all about.
However that would never happen since I would have changed the channel anyway because I despise all envolved people that were on the half time show.
I think everyones talking about it because of a couple reasons, the exects of Viacom who were at the game watching it, did not know this was going to happen, they were stunned and pissed off, supperbowl is supposed to be a family show, and regardless if our censorship in america should be changed a family show as of today does not typicaly include boobs. They also did not expect this from Janet let alone Justin who had a squeaky clean image thing going, this does not convince me he's a bad ass by any means, but to others it may. Its all about image and scandel, its in the news because they have nothing of greater importance to report about, this situtation obviously causes people to say things, so its a great topic for ratings.
I personaly hate MTV because of their whole "we're total rebels!" attitude when they're really a large corporation of the type that any rebel they're trying to reach out to would be against. And also that they no longer are MTV, they're MTV Inc., they don't really give artists freedom to express themselves, and they rarely even play Music videos, they had to create a new station to do what the original station is supposed to do. Thats like if ESPN started playing music videos and ESPN2 actualy played sports. Its moronic.
I do not mind a little boob, I think there was nothing great about her boob and boobs do not bother me in the slightest. But I do think they should not have done that when there are people who are botherd by it and would not want their child/family/whoever seeing it.
Its disrespectfull to people who trusted it would be "good family fun". Even if I don't agree with peoples views I still respect them, and Janet/Justin/MTV should have also.

I for one am highly offended. By the FCC's and various other reactions to this. Let's look at this, shall we?
What we have here is a terribly overrated 'family event' consisting of large, sweaty men brutally slamming into each other and engaging in other wanton acts of violence, punctuated by pointless and senseless committee meetings, and various acts of hypocritical homoeroticism. (A fair number of NFL players have made their opinion on homosexuals quite clear... homophobia seems to run rampant... but where else do you see guys constantly patting each other on the ass?)
If you think this is 'family entertainment' please check yourself into the nearest mental institution. And have yourself sterilized.
And what 'despoils' this 'family entertainment' is a woman's BREAST?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? With the nipple covered?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
I"m sensing some genuinely messed up priorities here.

I don't think its "family entertainment" personaly, I agree with your points, it is violent and there are gestures of homoeroticness (homoerotic is an oddly fun word to say). I was just stating that to the common general public it is considered "family entertainment" and that does not usualy include boob, but oddly does violence of a degree.
I think its messed up that our censorship prorities are over nudity rather than violence. Nudity can be a much more beautiful and non threatning thing than violence can, yet the public seems to except violence on public television more than nudity.
If I had a child I would never take them to a movie that had intensive violence or watch a television show that did. If they were interisted in sports though I would most likely let them watch football. Why? Because its rare that you see a football player get blown up, or shot, etc. However I'm not saying that it isn't violent, its just a very low degree of violence.
Its sad that people in the media are so overacting to this, and most aren't looking at the issues we are. The issue of why is this unacceptable to most public people and should that be changed is something I have not heard yet by any media.

I don't like football and dont watch it because of the things you guys are saying. Essentially, (for me) football is war in entertainment form.
What I dont understand about all the hype surrounding this is everyone is focused on the event because of the breast. Personally, out of the whole how many ever hours that was on, the breast was the least problematic. I care more about kids seeing that its "ok" to rip off a womans clothing than that a breast was seen.
But hey, what am *I* thinking. Apparently its ok to have a horse fart in a womans face and burn her.. not only is it ok, its funny </sarcasm>
Seriously though, objectification of women and violence is ok but a gland meant to feed babies isnt. Hmm..
We're screwed up.

OMG Eggy.. I laughed so hard, I almost wet myself!
But, I agree.. they are lucious, no?
Anyway, I think people are making waaaay too much of this issue. The FCC and Mr. Powell should back off and relax. Most people didn't even notice it, or if they did, it was so fast they had to rewind and pause thier Tivo.

No shit sherlock. If there's anything worse than moralists it is the giant crowd of faux moralists that infects the united states. I remember reading about some politician who was speaking in front of some nude statues or something, and had them covered up. It's insane. People like that belong in the loony bin. FWIW, I see my mom's giant jumblies all the time and it hasnt turned me into a murderous psychopath. Heck, I've seen plenty of my grandma's tits too, and those of a few of their friends. It's not that hard, you just have to go to a goddamn beach. Dont you do topless in america?

Only on television Eggy Topless for women is not common here, except for nude beaches and not all beaches are nude (or topless). Which is a shame, heheh. I think if men can go topless women should be alowed to also, not all women have huge boobs and not all men have un-huge boobs, so you could see the same boob weight on a man that you could a woman. Only difference is the shape and most probably hair. Anyone remember when it was taboo for women to show some ankle skin? Why back in my day we had to walk 50 yards in the snow to see a good boob, and that was only for half of one!

it's pretty funny how football is sponsored by beer ads which notoriously link their product with the pursuit of sex, and by erection pills... but the half-time show freaks everyone out. It's like the guy who talks smack about sex for years and then when he finally gets some he doesn't know what to do with it! All talk and no action.
