Has anyone discovered a way to be rid of those !@!$! !@#$!@ !@#$!@$ popup windows (not actually windows, just fancy annoying graphics) that show up visiting websites from time to time?  I think Yahoo has them from time to time. They aren't displayed in normal windows, these bastards are just graphics that show up in the middle of the page YOU ARE TRYING TO READ.... OOOOOOHHH NOOO, THAT'S OKAY...REALLY! I WASN'T REALLY TRYING TO READ THAT CRAP I CAME TO THE WEBPAGE FOR IN THE FIRST PLACE! I WAS JUST FAKING IT! GO AHEAD AND DISPLAY ALL THE !@#!@#$ ADVERTISEMENTS YOU'D LIKE! I'LL BUY YOUR @#$% AND YOU WILL GET RICH OK? $@&#ERS! Or, how to prevent those bastards that detect when you click *anywhere* on a webpage (even in a blank area) and show a POOPup window afterwards? (This makes it impossible to use a wheel mouse to scroll by the way, nice huh?) Apparently these can get past popup-blocking software... If not, what kinds of violence can we inflict upon them until there's something out there to stop them?

WTF is C3PO supposed to be USEFUL for anyway, besides whining? Stupid piece of scrap metal would be more useful recycled as a toaster. But even that would suck, because who would want to listen to a whining wussy toaster? Is he gold plated? If that's the case he should just be melted down into gold ingots. Help the economy some, and stop being so damn useless you stupid bucket of bolts! R2 is 1,000 times more useful than your tin man ass, and he's shaped like a salt and pepper shaker FFS!

Tried to use Firefox? I never had pop-ups problems with it. Actually, it blocks pop-ups so well that I need to disable the function on sites such as the SL forums, because if I don't, it won't let me load my PMs in a new window (nor pop the window telling me "you've got a new PM"  . |

Well Firefox (or Opera which I sometimes use) is great for most sites, but then you come to those crappy sites where they don't support X feature, and you have to switch to the Internet Exploiter anyway. I'd bet that the reason alot of them don't work in alternate browsers is that the different browser "breaks" whatever they're using to pop up CRAP when it comes to fancy things like this.
I keep trying to get back to using Opera mainly and IE as a backup, but then I find myself automatically starting up Exploiter more and more until I almost never use Opera... And IE starts up alot faster which doesn't help.

Uninstall your browser's Flash plug-in, is about the only thing you can do. The effect you're describing is done using Flash.

Bleh, well that still neuters my crappy Internet Exploiter....how am I going to fully exploit the internet without flash crap?  If the designers of IE weren't retarded monkeys, they'd let us do stuff like put Flash/Java/Javascript/Cookie/Active Scripting/etc. toggles right next to the other buttons on the main GUI. But no....they are sucking on bananas all day!

The way I do it is I have all my internet settings set to ASK me before running scripts or ActiveX stuff in the "Internet Zone" (which is one of three security presets available in IE), then I disallow both in Restricted Sites and allow both in Trusted Sites. Then, for sites I regularly visit (like mail.yahoo.com) that have annoying crap, I put it into Restricted. For nice sites, (like this) I put it into Trusted.
Hell, I can surf Suprnova with only a single, very small ad. All the other crap they pull is blocked entirely, including the entire right hand frame.
IE is very powerful if you know how to use it.

No, it doesnt, that guy was doing it intentionally and it was ment to be released. Frankly that is still pretty good, but not as good as this (requires quicktime)
