Some have spoken in favour enforcing historically low prices of when land was not tied directly to resource usage. Others have spoken of regulating buying and selling based on quantity or time restrictions to limit a liquid and profitable land market. Others still are in favour of a free and fluid land market. But dialogue occurs amongst a few outspoken players.
I am curious how the forum reading community at large feels about the buying and selling of land.

It seems now that plenty of land is available there's no longer problems. There seems to be plenty of land for sale in the auction. And there's no longer the problem of the scanners land goes to auction now. Only change I would like to see is more information on the controls for land and more basic info available for new people.

You forgot land with a target price.

From: blaze Spinnaker You forgot land with a target price. That would fall under the "other" box.

The only change I'd make to how land is handled is to make claiming the land automatic, or only available for a day. Possibly at the purchaser's choice. (i.e. they can pick to have either a day grace period, or have it automatically transfered)

From: blaze Spinnaker You forgot land with a target price. that would probably fall under the first category as the target price something that LL would use to influence with thier output of sims determined by what they believe is a profitable and attractive for player growth. i'm sure that LL probably has some kind of target prices in mind which governs thier output of land.

Personally I would like to see land sold at cost by linden labs. It's space on a server, the only reason land costs money is that they have to pay for those servers. The real money in land is the monthly fees. The price gouging to get land, produces a small percentage of the income. By charging a low rate, I think more player would buy large plots. Larger plots , more income per player. If land was cheap, player are more likely to buy. Meaning more player paying monthly fees. Low prices would also mean an increase of compulsive buys. Plus as the server age, and need they need to be fazed out. Low land prices would increase the rate of change. Meaning faster , better performance, new computer ushally take less space , and the consumption of less power, Meaning less heat. This is beneficial for the players and ll.

Until resource of the sim uses are tied directly to the land owned, there's really no point in purchasing land.
Newbies can spend up to $200 for land, only to find that another new club has opened, and basically, their land is worthless as far as useage because of the lag.
Unless group purchases with prior agreements are done on what is done on the land, what scripts will run, etc. -- you're just paying high rent for... for... virtual space.
