If you win Island, do you have to pay monthly fees on the land? Would that count as 192 sqm of land, or would it just be a flat out one time auction fee and you never pay for it again? I would like a linden answer or proof if someone else answers please. And hopefully within the bid time limit, lol.

Hi oz Yes, you will pay for it each month:
Bid carefully! Please review Your Account before bidding to determine the possible effect on your monthly charge. If the additional land puts you in a higher land tier, you must be willing to pay a higher monthly charge or release other land.

Thanks, I saw that, but wasn't sure if it just meant it might put you over your allotment, or if you'd actualy have to pay out monthly still. Would still like a Linden reply just to be sure.

Just now the bid was at $US 60.00. The buyer will have to tier up to $US 195.00 a month, apparently, but it wasnt too clear, at least for me, if they have to pony up the 65,000 or so Lindens to claim the land, as well. If ten people got together on it they could have a huge number of prims for 20 bucks a month each. This is the way that SL's citys and big projects of the future will be built, I have no doubt. Ah good thinking with how citys will be built, I agree with you, atleast if they're going to have a Sim wide city.
As for paying in L$ for the land also, I don't believe the winner will have to, since it is in USD I believe that takes the place of the L$ to be claimed.
I guess the official answer is "Yes" you will have to pay monthly along with the winning bid.

That would be awesome if you could resell land like that for a monthly fee .. charge people 20 dollars to using part of your island. Become a SL Reseller hehe .. I'd go for the Sim right now if that was true , could probably get enough people to live with me and pay.

Yes, you need to pay the monthly land fee in addition to the auction bid. No, you don't need to pay the $L per m2 ($L65,000+ for a sim) to claim the land.

I think if we establish a clear and consistent terminology for the two payments that are involved in owning land, it would go a far way toward better understanding:
- The winner of this auction will be spending USD to BUY THE DEED to the land.
- The winner will still need to PAY MAINTENANCE on a monthly basis.
My only question is what happens if you want to own 1 and 1/8 of a region. There's no option for that in the tier selection... (not that I plan to do this, just hypothetical)

Is this where we sign up to offer professional services to the new island owner? Sign me up for terraforming and large structures assistance - that new island is going to need it. Check out Gray for a sample of previous work. P.S. Gigantic trees are another specialty of mine - you'll see a few of those around.
