Some dumb newb questions...

hey ya'all, I have a question or two I can't seem to get answered in game. The first one is with that title thing, I got one free somewhere but it did'nt come with instructions, I know how to turn it off but how do you change what it says?

My second question is, I purchased a piece of jewelry from a rather promimanet rodeo jewelry shop, I paid my money, they money is gone, but the jewelry is no where to be seen in my inventory, this was a few days ago, and I've logged in and out several times and still no armband, how do you IM someone who you don't have a trading card for, because I should contact the store owner, it seems to be a fairly repitable store and I'm sure it was just a coding mishap or something.

Not sure what you mean by titles. Do you mean the words that sometimes come before people's names - like Supreme Master of the Universe Selador Cellardoor? If that's what you mean, these will appear when you join a group. It is the group name which appears before your av name. You can activate or swap them by right-clicking your av and selecting Groups.

If you can remember the store owner's name, you can go to Find, select People, and then when the window for that person comes up, you will see there is an option for sending an IM.

No, not the club titles, the titles that appear above peoples heads that are in differant colors (i've seen mostly green). You can edit them to say anything you want. I know to turn them off you type in /title off; but I can;t seem to figure how to change what it says, as mine is still set on the default it came with.

fallon just either go to where it is in inventory and remove it or try sayin title off..
as for the other thing, maybe you just dont know what its under

Sometimes items come in a Folder not in a box that would end up in objects. Also, you can just go back to the place that you bought the jewelry and right click on one of their objects and under the General tab you can click on the profile for the creator and be able to message them that way.

Also, no newb question is a dumb question.

No it's really not in there, I have some of his other jewely and it all goes in the same place in alpha order. I was able to IM him and expect it to be rectified today. Thank you guys... anyone knwo about the titler thing?

Selador told ya! It's a group title, go into groups and set to none to remove...your active group will show up on your name. Hope you get your purchase straightened out.

Try doing a sort by date in your inventory *just in case*. I am amazed at how often I'll find stuff when I switch between the two sort options. But failing that, then yes, it sounds like it could be some simple bug. I'm sure the shop owner will help you.

As for the title thingy. I know that it is a script. And I believe the script would be inside of an object that you attach to yourself. To change the wording on the script, you would need to open the script and do so manually. This would be done by putting the object on the ground, right clicking it and choosing edit. Then go to contents and find the script. Then double click on the script to open it. This of course is only possible if the object has modify permissions and the script has modify permissions. If it does not, then you will not be able to change it, sorry.

While I am no scriptor (and that is putting it mildly), usually scripts like this are easy to figure out where the wording needs to be changed for you to change what is said above your head. Just look for the line in the script that has the same wording as what you currently see, and only change that line. Leave any quotes or other characters around it that may be there. Others who are scriptors may be able to help you beyond this point if it still does not work.

and he already said that its not the group title, its that flip up title that you can change colors.

The extra words in green or what have you are a floating text script that can be applied, I would assume to some attachment you're wearing but I haven't tried it personally. I've seen people wear them at the clubs sometimes.

Thank you Pendari, I'll go look at the edit permissions now, still waiting to hear form the seller, but I will also try sorting thru dates.

My *title thing* is called Flip title, may not be the same and i believe there are different ones out there that dont work the same way. But i simply attatch the object and type title red certified ratnut, where *red* will be the color of the text and the text itself then comes after showing *certified ratnut* above my head.

If you can catch me in game I'll give you an object and show you how to edit the script to say whatever you want. Have one that you attach to your head so it could say like, "I'm not ignoring you, in chat right now", or eating or work, whatever you want it to say.
