Stating my case...

I pulled out my baretta and shot a newbie who came onto my property and set off some C4 knocking me and another new person into the next sim over. Isn't it only fair that I should be able to retaliate? Apparently he filed an abuse report... because what do ya know, I'm suspended until the 24th.

Gimme a break Lindens... investigate a little harder.

I think if someone is griefing you on your property then you chould first have to warn them and second ... well, if they are still there then let 'em have it.

Welcome to the doghouse of the gun user in SL. Second Life... The place where you can design and operate your own guns, as long as you don't use or include bounce push scripts in your bullets...

What really gets to me about gun suspensions is the fact that they praise gunmakers openly and almost encourage you right out the gate with the friggin shooting range to get some weapons and then once your in the game enough to afford the seburo or another high speed gun with push capabilities you get suspended on the first abuse report.

Linden labs clearly states on one of their opening lines when logging on to check the top of the screen for a heart and if ones there then thats a damage enabled area and you could DIE...everyone set your land for damage then LL has no recourse if you shoot a griefer....they sanctioned it

let's not confuse real with virtual. LL OWNS the infrastructure that supports this world. if people want to enter the public sphere, this is not it. someone else restated this today in another thread - this is a private world. it is run by private interests. maybe if it is really successful it may become public one day, like some of the other aspects of the internet.

words like justice just don't have meaning here yet. i don't know if they ever will. is there injustice on the WWW?

As I recall, there are 3 functions of the property owner pie menu which are more practical than a berretta, "freeze" the individual, and tell them not to do that, if they agree to, then unfreeze them, you can also ban and boot, these are land tools, and if you tell the person /why/ you're doing it, you can't be retaliated against (doesn't hurt to tell Lindens about these actions as well)

Just so everyone knows, Donnie Donovan is the same guy who negbombed me with his alts, then over the course of the next month, assaulted me at every opportunity he got. Why? Because I made fun of his little club one time while he was advertising it in the welcome area.

At every turn, he practically begged me to file abuse reports, thinking he was invincible and the Lindens wouldn't do anything about it.

You have freeze, kick, ejectfromland, and teleporthome capabilities as land owners. These are sanctioned by LL. If someone is on your land, you can use these to deal with it.

You choose to pull out a push gun, with is states to be a suspendable offence.

Renting land from teh lindens is akin to renting an apartment. Someone tresspasses you have rights about how to make them leave. You do not have the right to do anything you want to them irl, and you also don't have the right to do anything you want to them in sl by edict of the landlords/government (lindens).

A note: I have been abbuse reported for hitting bystanders with shrapnel. I was not banned.

Regardless of peoples perceptions about RL vs. SL, this is a matter of consistency.

I had sold a tudor home to someone some time ago and we were in the process of putting it together when a guy came up and initiated a script which caused his av to crouch and crap out turds which were scripted to dance in your face. Very annoying to say the least. He was standing on a piece of public land (yes this was pre 1.2) so I quickly bought the land, *unsafed* it, and shot him. Daniel came to investigate and said "Interesting tactic", and left. Not another word was spoken and I was not disciplined.

I think this inconsistency both in the forums and in world is a by product of a small company. Hopefully when LL's staff is larger they will have more clear cut rules in place AND they will administer them evenhandedly and consistently.

Third stage of playing a brand new uber hyped awsome looking game - Beat game and wish there was more time to play it, you want to play more but its too repetitive.

A certain someone placed a bunch of the stuff in Aasim yesterday, I didn't report it. I saved one in case I needed to, I will file abuse if it is the same person. We all screw around so I usually take this stuff pretty light, but if someone is dishing it out, yet can't take it, that just sucks.

That's why my lands are damage enabled. And it's also funnier : if someone don't like me in game he can come and shoot me ; isn't that exciting? (sad thing is nobody would want to.... *sob* nobody hates me *sob* )

bah, damage enable my land . I make tp home bullets for my weapons . same as killing them, but they can't kill me first.
