Guys....I need help.

I've become addicted to Blackjack in SL. I don't know how to quit. I'll start out with what seems to me to be a comfortable sum of Lindens in my account....and then I'll be enticed to the tables. I'l' win, start feeling good, then lose...panic, start betting more, keep losing, panic more...until I've lost all the money in my account.

This is the third time I've cleaned myself out of Lindens due to the evils of gambling...and I need help stopping. I've never done this in RL, and I'm scared that I might start. The thing of it is....I like playing the game. It's about the only thing that engages my brain when I don't have any friends logged onto SL.

I'll probably add some Lindens to my account again....I like shopping around the stores. But I need to figure out some ways to stay away from the gambling tables...and just "DOn't go to them" isn't enough...I need some alternative...or *something*. :(

Can anyone help this poor little angel with the very tarnished halo? :(

See if you can get a game that you don't have to bet on? :) I used to play all the time on my old Apple ][c. I rather like blackjack too, as a game that is. n.n

Play poker instead, at least then someone else beats you out of your money, not the house.

when i worked in a casino at the beginning we had a few people banned by their own request...why dont you try that...im sure the casinos would be more than accomodating

Have you ever tried playing majongg? It can be pretty fun and is often very challenging. There are tables in Fuchsia that are tied to a scoring board that records the daily, weekly, and overall high scores. Its fun to try to get up on those score boards. And, it is free to play.

Reminds me of my days in Sims Online. I too was an addict at machines. Getting the occasional jackpot ususally toppped me up.

I have to stay away from gambling in SL as it is addictive. How about creatong a Gamblers Annon. group?

I know exactly what you are talking about. I got hooked on the draw poker machines for a while. I was seriously considering talking to Tony Tigereye, who made the machine I liked, and asking to buy one.

Have you thought about seeing who made the blackjack table you are playing on? You could just buy one from the creator and play on that in the privacy of your own home.

And you should also look at some strategy sites, like this one.

haha, guys when someone says "i'm addicted to gambling, help!" the proper response is not to point them at a gambling strategies site. it's like if someone said they had a drinking problem and you said "try a straw." :D

Liona, buy a blackjack game you can play for points. nothing wrong with the game, just letting it ruin your experience. or....check the events list for classes and learn to do something fun and constructive when your friends aren't around.

lol. I was thinking that since there wasn't a RL issue, that maybe the problem could be rectified with the combination of a private machine and learning how to play the game. I will consider whether I am offering straws in the future, though.

Mahjong is a lot of fun. Also, check out Ezhar Fairlight's (free) Senso and Memo games in Stillman 53, 82. I've killed many hours on Senso, believe me, and Memo is a lot of fun, too.
