*bangs head on wall*
So yesterday my gf brought me a spare hard drive from a broken computer at her college... I slap it into my box and it bots up fine! YAY! :D
But... there's some really weird problem with it... It's LAZY :D
The HD seems to work fine but randomly turns himself off or something. I have been unable to install Windows XP on it since it stops working half way through the installation process. Maybe its overheating or something, I dont know. I'm sick of this :)
I'm gonna try hooking up my old 486's hard drive to my main computer. It's only 1 gig, but it should probably be enough to run SL and windows 98... :(

Er...how are you going to do that Eggy? I though Win98 wouldn't run SL?

SL will run on Win98, there are several people in-world doing it. I'd hate to try it myself, but it can be done. Just don't expect any support when it bombs! :D

Disable power management features in the bios. I had this problem on a beta-testing machine. Installed new video card, and the thing just kept hanging. I went to the event log and saw a power management error.

What the hell, worth a try eh?

Well yes I'll give it a shot but this 20 gig HD my gf brought me was already doing it on a nother puter and has a little orange sticker saying "broken" =)
And while I was running it, I noticed a few bad clusters. I'll work on it later, at the moment I am back in SL using my mom's single-gigabyte HD from our old 486 =)
