i encourage people to love or hate jauani wu as they see fit and to treat the in world avatar with similar affection or disdain. if someone is not my friend i will simply ask that they please direct thier discontent over my forum activity to my PM box. i don't go so far as to ask people to disassociate Forum Jauani from SL Jauani, because there is definitely some slippage, or that what happens in the forums stays in the forums (ie: one should like my posting and dislike my playing indepenantly). i just ask that others respect my space if they are not my friends and to stop abusing the offline mute bug (like a bunch of cowards).

yes i can often be abbrassive and less than civil on the forum but i have the decency not to bring it to an IM box near you.

i think this is a reasonable request.

Wow. You stated you *couldn't read* my offline messages. I guess you were embellishing. You do know you can simply close the IM and *poof* it's gone and that PMs are persistant unless you delete them? Seems I got under your skin and the IM itself wasn't the reason for you posting this (several hours later), but rather the nature of it.

I was also unaware of any bug or etiquette rule against offline messaging.

Edited to add: when you chum the waters, expect to hook a fish or two...

seriously nolan, you are a very awkward human. i try very hard to respect the friendship we once had by avoiding any confrontation yet what i recieve are monthly IM bashes and associated forum attacks. you seem to want nothing more than for me toduke it out with you in a public forum by this constant antagonism.

even this oblique post should have relayed to you that i do not feel comfortable with you and your obsession. our brief friendship and what you have shared with me about your life makes it too personal to play forum banter games with you because everything i say will be Real and not just a forum foolishness. you can continue to psychoanalyze me, i enjoy it, it tickles, but don't expect me to play this with you because i think it would be cruelness beyond myself or "forum jauani".

anyway, besides the fact that you knew i was offline, the fact that you had such a long tirade to make, you could have put it in a notecard. it's much easier to read then offline IMs. that's all i was trying to get across inworld.

the reason i didn't post earlier was because i went out for a few hours. i'm sorry to make you wait. i also spent a bit of time considering what is the best way to respond without being too judgemental and set you off yet again.

btw, yeah... you'll have to PM me if you "give a shit" now. i've taken proactive measures.

I see. So it's the format, not the content? The vehicle?

You avoid it how?

By labelling me and those who share my opinion as *whining babies*? Or as *hoardes of stupid people*?
Oh! I forgot that was a joke in which you were making fun of yourself.

Let me rehash a convo you and I had about architecture shortly after you returned to SL about the financial ramifications of a replacement build of the World Trade Center in NY:

me: "We have several 50 story plus skyscrapers here in Minneapolis that we cant fill. I think they are simply monuments to millionaires."

Jauani: "well, after all, it IS Minneapolis."

WTF?

Do you know anything about MN?

Obviously you do not.

This response was indicative of your elitist mentality.

Sorry man, but the gist of what I say to you is not changed by the venue.

Would it lessen the blow if I blasted you here?

Would it make you feel better because your self proclaimed *fan club* gets to see it?

Shallow man, shallow.

I will ask you that you refrain from dragging that which I contacted you about in world into the forums.

The only reason I see for you doing so is to try to drum up support for your views.

that's a wonderful dig into your chat logs. you are right, i have never visited minneapolis so i how would i know that it is not one the economic hubs of n.america and that a group of 50 story skyscrapers might be overkill or overly optimistic? i certainly wouldn't and made a poor agreable assumption to carry the conversation along.

i don't ever recall calling you any names. i don't know why you've invented this scenario for yourself. i don't think you are stupid, nor do i think you are a baby.

you might want to do like wise. once again, i'll let you judge what this request might suggest when set next to your profound minnesota blurb.

you will note i didn't actually drag you out here. i obliquely posted for you to desist and to take it to PM if you wish to chide me behind closed doors. and that's it for me. why can't you just go have a nice secondlife?

You can claim its's oblique. That is your right. But to me it obviously wasn't.

I have never felt compelled to make *oblique* presentations concerning you.

Here we go again.
Avoidance of responsibilty.

Gee; if I call it oblique, no one will get it (the fact that I am speaking directly to Nolan*!) unless of course he points out that fact .

BTW, I have no "chat logs".

That was a general chat convo we had last spring. Remember? The one in which you proclaimed that grad students are sometimes elitists. I remember it by rote. I have a very good memory. I never flagged it because I thought I saw value in your friendship. We all make mistakes...

Well. Regardless. You did. Accuse me of being a moth. That's fine. I will accept that. Remember, YOU lit the torch. I DID contact you in-world.I tried to avoid this. You chose to bring it back here. You chose to respond with: *I can't read that*, followed by a public post chiding me, even though no one else knew of our disagreement. Thanks. Thanks for dragging me down with you... you chose to make your *oblique* post here even though any lucid person knew it pertained to me.

Yeah, I have to agree with Devlin on this. I had no clue either.

Ok, not that I have not ever hashed out a personal situation in a public forum (love ya, Big John, as always), but as someone who likes both of you a lot, may I suggest that you stop this back and forth here. It is EXTREMELY personal and pretty uncomfortable for a public forum posti.

Nolan, nobody would have known it was you being referring to in such an oblique fashion if you hadn't responded in the first place. And, if you truly are a moth, please don't eat our sweaters.

Cristiano said it all. The forum is not the place to hash out a personal and private issue.

The thread is locked.
