After reading many of your posts. I began to wonder if these changes are really beneficial to SL. Like me probably a majority of the people that come to SL do merely for the fun factor and socializing of like minded people.

1. No support for events - This cuts down on the events and this will cut down on the socializing. First of all whose gonna pay to go to 3/4 ths of these events. I can barely think of any I would actually pay for. Plus with everyone receiving less money, whose gonna waste what little money they have on an event that might not even be fun.

2. Cutting Bonuses- Im payin customer, and new so this doesnt really affect me. I can see how this may cause more people to be a paying member ( a good thing).

But overall, these changes won't improve the fun or socializing of the game. It only benefits u people that wanna make RL money. People will build and create in this environment if there making money or not. If the linden dollar fell more and it cost a penny a L$, People will still build, just for the fact that they can do this in world. No other game offers this. So less events, less money for people to actually attempt at tryin new things and events, and less money overall for people to spend on new things and to try new things - all equal less fun. Some of us with real 40 - 50 hour jobs, dont wanna work more to in game money. These changes are fuckin ridiculous to people that wanna have fun and enjoy ourselves and to meet new people. IF YOU WANNA MAKE RL MONEY, GET A F'N JOB. thanks

Of course creative people will still do all these things. My partner and I will continue to build and design and animate.. and we will continue to share these things with out friends.. who share cool stuff with us. But since we can make or barter almost anything in world that we want, there will be little to no motivation to sell any of our stuff. Oh.. which also means that the very large, free store we provide to a lot of other merchants will go away.

And since when do you need a club to socialize?

Anyone want to wait and see how these changes actually play out in world before freaking out?

And one last thing.. most of us have fucking jobs.... fucking professions for that matter.

BAH!!

So club owners only have events to make money? That means they dont give a rats ass about you and only want you there because of the money you make for them.

I would rather socialize at a place, even a club, that cared about me being there because I chose to be there because of the build and the people.

I own a store and the changes won't effect me much since I create because I love to and the money I make is very little (I pay more in land fees). However, I understand how these changes will have an effect in the new players and those that depend on events and stipends to be able to afford their little niceties. This will in turn have an effect on the players that use their sales income to pay for their fees (especially those that own malls and whole sims). The main reason for me to leave would be if this economic situation has a big ripple effect by causing many of my friends to leave and if I can no longer afford to play. I will wait out the changes to see if SL will be worth it a month or so from now.

Actually I think his post was targeted at the folks who ARE running around screaming 'cause they're afraid they can't make money off of GOM/SL ...

... however vaguely he put it. :p

Charming. Why should you roll the dice and go around the board in monopoly? Why not just divide up all the play money and call it a day? Why bother to kill monsters in an mmorpg? Why not just make everyone the highest level the moment they log in? Probably because it would be boring and give people nothing to aspire to. No one has a gun to your head saying you have to do anything at all. Sit on your land and stare at your navel for all I care.

Ok just to put this in perspective. Every other MMORPG or online game for that, the money is basically worth nothing. Basically its the newbs that will buy money for use on these other online games, till they level up or whatever to make enough money of there own. So lets say the L$ becomes worth nothing. Its not hurting anyone. It wont stop people from building, or buying, or selling in game. These are all things that come with a virtual world just to do something. If you dont wanna do anything or dont have the time to do anything, then cool. But with less income for everyone and events start to become paying events this hurts us that wanna have fun and go try as many events as there are, and just wanna play around. FLOOD THE GAME WITH LINDENS WHO CARES, NOTHING WILL CHANGE. itll only change for those people tryin to make RL money.

Bullshit

Every other online game people sell money as well. Everquest, TSO, STar Wars....and the people that buy aren't newbs either. If you can't find a way to have fun in this game without money Might I suggest you go buy yourself a can of play doh and have at it.

Well, I think where you go astray is in assuming that people who make money in SL are greedy and do it to line their pockets. My SL related expenses are around $250 a month. That's what it costs me for the land I use to build things for people to come see. The only reason I'm willing to pay that much to LL is because it doesn't actually cost me anything except time spent doing something that I enjoy. My sales cover my fees. My fees cover stuff for other people to enjoy. It's that dynamic that SL is built on. If you removed everything from the world that was created by people like me, and all the locations that people pay for with their L$ profits, there would be a lot less here to draw people into SL in the first place... less to do, less cool things to play with, less skins and clothes to wear, and on and on. It's not just people who are successful enough to have spare L$ to cash out that benefit.
