I'm afraid that the Intel Extreme chipset ain't gonna cut it, as far as doing Second Life. Linden Lab only supports ATI and nVidia (and then, only the higher end of these companies' offerings).
You can get a GEFORCE 5200 (nVidia) for about $50 these days. Its not the top of the line from nVidia, but I've run SL on it successfully. If you're willing to spend more, you'll get a better experience.
I'm sure that's not the answer you wanted to hear, but I'm afraid that's the way it is.

i ran through early 1.4 on a gateway laptop with intel extreme and 256mb of ram. the extreme chip only had 32mb of memory omg omg omg. it was a bit choppy; and i had to relog if i traveled around too much. but i could see well enough to play for several months.
granted it may not work at all in 1.5
but an nvidia card if you're gonna play sl. atis are great for a lot of things, but not sl.

Intel did work for me but the performance was subpar to say the least. I upgraded to a middle of the line ATI card I bought for like $125.00. It is MUCH, MUCH better. I only have a fraction of the lag I used to have now.
