If I make your idea, I'll probably give you one.

How about insects? Like tiny, reproducing mosquitos or houseflies.

Anybody can run with it. I would just love to see it. I just came off a big project and am not quite ready for another big one.

He's created an awesome looking board and all the peices but I believe he is still finishing up the scripting. It may still be on the mountain top near the western stillman sim border on top of Candie Apple's mountain if you want to check it out. |

I was going more for non-scripting... but I CAN build some of it... I'd just need someone else to script it

Omigod, I love Scrabble. I would LOVE to see an interactive Scrabble board in SL. I even know a bunch of 'q' words that don't need 'u's...

Hrm... scrabble... ok autorez a wall where each tile has a touch with a listen where it checks what letter you just said and sets the corresponding texture.
thats easy. As for scoring and rule checking and stuff, sorry i never really played scrabble :| |

If you want something to build that doesn't require scripting there's always the perennial favorite the giant phallus.

That reproduce, spread out and look for builds with more than, say, 20 prims to live in and multiply? Also be funny if they only come out during SL night time. Sorry, I know this is evil, couldn't resist tossing it in. |

My Scrabble - Like game should be done within the next 48 hours. Once it is complete, it will be moving with me back to Stanford, changing its look to fit the theme, and becoming part of the Carnival which is returning (yay!). For now, come by and check it out, still on the mountain in Varney that I just sold to a very happy Candie Apple (yay again)
I've worked out all of the scripting for piece placement and movement, but like all my other board games, rules will not be scripted in place. While this is very much possible with board games in SL, I think the amount of extra scripting attention it would require from the server is not worth the benefit. Basically, you click on a piece, then click where you want it to go, and it goes there. Just like a real boardgame, people limit themselves to the rules (or not) based on their preference. This also allows for any number of game variants using the same pieces and board. My sticking point in finishing the board was how to shuffle the pieces at the beginning. In the wee hours of the morning this morning, a very talented Francis Chung helped me to work out how to do this, so now just a matter of implementation. btw, if you don't know Francis, I truly feel that she is one of the most elegant scripters in SL. For a beautiful current example of her scripting, please, do yourself a favor and go to Kissling. Khamon Fate has an astounding park there that I recently installed one of Francis' latest projects: a group of leaf objects that realistically (in response to the wind) fall from a tree. Francis gave me a copy of the leaves, which I installed on Khamon's property without asking (I like surprises). Khamon seems pleased, and I know I am ![]() Francis is quite modest and Refuses to take my money for the projects she makes. Eventually I am able to give it to her without her catching it - I have ways, but it is tough. I expect the money I gave to her this morning for the scripting help will be back in my account when I log back on. If you see the Kissling leaves, and love them (which I know you will) please, send Francis a few bucks. She is way too talented to be broke in game. She's gone home for Christmas and won't possibly be able to send it all back. Take that Francis ![]() |

Oh, and for scoring, I've come up with a score totaller that works kind of like those click-counting devices. Very straightforward and no texture switching, so fast. Would be useful for a variety of games if anyone would be interested in one once they are complete.

How about a tesseract?
that might have to wait for SL IV though. I like the roaches idea though. |

Maybe the roaches could look for objects with the default texture. That way, if your place is all ghetto, it will be swarming with them, lol.

I'd like some roaches that scuttle about the world looking for stuff created by me, then hides in that item for a while occassionally squeaking or making wood chomping noises.. before scuttling off looking for more of my stuff. If it could perhaps IM me when it finds stuff too - so I know where my items end up.
..I may be thinking about this idea way too much.. lol. |

- Go here: http://mmogtoolkit.sourceforge.net
- improve it (add money, migrate parameters to Notecard config files, add more damage types to ReceiveDmg, and modify SendDmg a bit to incorporate AttackPower and AttackSpeed) - build an MMORPG Feel free to create a parallel project that uses the entire sourcecode base of the current project, or if you do a good job I'll add you in as admin to the SourceForge project.
