Hey all.... I was just curious whether there were any plans to hold any sort of benefit events for relief efforts for the victims of the devastating earthquake & resulting tsunamis in India and Asia? I feel pretty awful sitting here in my warm apartment, playing with my computer, knowing that so many thousands have lost everything. The SL community came together so beautifully for the Toys for Tots benefit, I'd love to see us do something similar for this.

I think this would be a great idea.

Even if no benefit events are scheduled, this is a massive human tragedy. Please, don't wait -- consider a donation to the Red Cross or other relief agency.
My prayers go out to all those affected. The headlines about the earth's rotation being affected really hit home with me... _____________________

Agreed.... there are also other links at http://www.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/asiapcf/12/27/quake.aidsites/index.html to other organizations that are taking donations.

That is the best suggestion - while in world fund raisers are a good idea, the faster and more directly we can donate to organizations helping with relief right now, the better. _____________________

Agreed again. I've sent a donation to the Red Cross tonight... the more I hear about this, the more heartsick it makes me. When I get back in world next, I think I'll put up something to give a notecard with the donation contact info, for the benefit of anybody passing by my land.

I went to www.msnbc.com there they provide links to legit organization currently taking donations for the relief aid in Asia. Its a fast and easy way to donate money. I still don't feel like its enough. I personally would love to go down there and help in a physical way. However, having small children restrict me from doing that. Huggerz, MJ P.S.
