Samsung, Kingston....Micron? What's the best RAM out there? Should I avoid any types?

Are you going to be overclocking or not? If you are, brand matters greatly. If not, just make sure it's from a reputable company.

I just buy from Crucial (Micron). The prices are good, the quality is good, the performance is good, and the shipping is usually free. Best balance in my opinion. I never do anything fancy like overclock anymore, so see no reason to buy something like Corsair ;p

Do not buy it from Fry's. If you don't know what a Fry's is you should probably count yourself blessed. Heh. They are actually decent for odds and ends and cheap stuff - but cheap ram will render your computer useless very quick.
I too always use Crucial. Although a lot of memory sites now walk you through finding the right ram by entering your system or mobo, Crucial was the first I found to do so. In my experience their RAM has been exceedingly good value and performance. I also seem to get their shipments in 1 or 2 days on standard free shipping.

I used to buy Kensington until I discovered Crucial. Great (friendly) site, great service, great prices, great product.
