Okay, so since the 1.2 announce, all of my energy and efforts have went toward reacquiring my land in Stanford so that I can reestablish my Carnival.

The Carnival is my true love, and with 1.2 forcing me to make some decisions, it will be the project I will be focusing on for now.

So, through much dealing and working, I have reacquired the spot in Stanford it was originally on.

Imagine my horror today when I logged on and the land belonged to someone else.

Apparently when I logged in, some bug caused all my land there in Stanford to go public. It being a prim location and in a mature area, it was instantly snatched up.

Luckily, my reason for logging in was to go and check some things at it.

I managed to see the person who bought it just as he finished purchasing it. I hurriedly explained that I did not release the land, and that this was a bug. Quickly got the only Linden online over there, and Thankfully (a Christmas miracle?) we got it all worked out. Thanks to the person who bought it for being cooperative and understanding.

My main reason for posting this is to warn others and to let people know that I have No intention of releasing that land (on the south beach) in Stanford.

I'm really concerned that this bug may happen again. I think it probably has something to do with the whol land confirmation thing. Keep an eye out on your properties.

Also, if you're in Stanford, and you see that the land has been released, please, let me know, or grab it for me so I can get it back from you. The Lindens now know about the issue, so I'm assuming the land would be returned to me if it happens again, but really don't want the hassle for me or for the person that might buy it.

One other thing, when I did buy the land back, it didn't join properly so now in lots of chunks. Hmmm. I can't wait until after Jan. 12th when all of this settles.

I was over there Christmas afternoon/early evening CST. Saw your very large plot for sale on the map. It was set to sell in its entirety, by you, for $1.

Realizing that was simply too good to be true, I didn't attempt to purchase it. But should I see that again, I'll be sure to purchase and hold for you.

Glad you got it straightened out!

Very good to know, and thanks for not taking advantage :)

After recently finally acquiring all of the land, I sold it to a friend to hold for $1 while I worked out things with what was going to be happening with my account. Just recently, he sold it back to me for that dollar.

I still have yet to confirm the purchase as there's one more issue with billing I am working out, so after I bought the land from him, it said sale pending and that the land was for sale for $1.

However, my friend set the sale so that it was only purchaseable by me, so I think if you had tried to buy it, it would not have allowed you to. I think. When I first got the land, and it said for sale for $1, I asked several people to attempt and purchase it to test out the Sale Only To feature. They were unable to purchase it.

However, in the above case, the person who grabbed it yesterday let me know that when he found it, it was actually Public. I believe him because 1) he was so nice about all of this and 2) the land had obviously been purchased by him in chunks, and my piece prior to this was all one chunk.

But like I said, good to know. I'll reiterate: I have No intentions of releasing that land to the public OR putting it up for sale. Please be aware of this :)

Thanks for the information, and happy holidays all.

Oh, another issue now. . . and something I hadn't thought of with this 1.2 land fee thing.

As I said above, when I repurchased for the land and hit Join, for some reason, the land failed to join.

Now, I have all these little chunks.

Logged in early this morning and as usual in this situation, thought I would release the land, repurchase and join it.

However, then I remembered, we don't get our land fees back now.

We Definitely need a way to Join existing land parcels.

It's really annoying having all these chunks now beside one another . . .kind of makes the new object info features useless as I have to manually total all that stuff.

this happened to jarod the other way round. he purchsed a plot of land and was later approached by the previous owners who had not released it. phoenix checked the logs and jarod gave it back to them but was very disappointed because he had "owned" it long enough to sculpt a bit visualize a build.

with these kinds of bugs, i don't see the group code coming out any time soon. onei are you gonna rent spaces in the carnival or build it all yourself?

Land parcels are always in one of two states - leased or lease pending. If it is not in one of those two states, it's not a parcel and is just a chunk of land. When a parcel is leased, it behaves like any other land holding you had in 1.1. When a parcel is pending, you cannot modify it, terraform it, or change it's other parcel flags. Approving a parcel purchase will move it from pending to leased, and not approving the purchase will eventually put the parcel back to public.

All individually held land parcels from 1.1 are given a 21 day grace period before you have to approve the purchase.

All land purchased with the new version must be approved in 1 day.

Joining land only works when the joining parcels have been confirmed. You cannot join pending parcels. We are working on better tools to join and divide parcels.
