Neo-Nazis, opponent to protest in Dresden

DRESDEN, Germany, Feb. 8 (UPI) -- A leader with the National Party of Germany says his neo-Nazis will make the anniversary of the bombing of Dresden an anti-British event.
"We know that Dresden was a cold-blooded, industrially planned murder of the civilian population," said Holger Apfel. "The same mass murderers who destroyed Dresden on Feb. 13, 1945, have embarked on new wars.
We have got to show that we are not ready to become the accomplices of an Anglo-American gangster politics."
Opponents of the neo-Nazis are being urged to surround the projected 10,000 Neo-Nazi demonstrators and hold candles to form what, on TV cameras, will appear to be a large flickering cross, the Times of London reported Tuesday.
"I am convinced that democratic Dresden will make its opinions clear in this way," said Pastor Stephan Fritz.
The British and the Allies bombed Dresden toward the end of World War II, destroying most of the homes in the city. Casualty figures range from 25,000 to more than 100,000. The Allies said the bombing was called to assist the Red Army's advance and because the city contained factories assisting in the war effort.

Wooo! Go NAZIS! YEAH! I heartily endorse this protest. Everyone knows that killing 10,000 civilians is an atrocity. Killing 10,000,000 jews, however, is perfectly acceptable  |

One of the oldest tricks in the book. Take any stretegic military attack and claim it was "really" a personal attack on the residents because they were who they were. I'm sure there's some nuts in America who think the civial war was "really" a scheme to kill southerners. |
