totally unrelated to SL but i'm trying to capture video of my desktop and somebody told me to use Fraps. when i try it tho it only captures video if i'm playing a video in my media player. what good is that?

am i completely screwing up or is it the wrong tool maybe? i just want to be able to record whatever's going on with my desktop without having to run it out into a vcr then back or something. anybody got any ideas please?

I think I had a problem before where I had to turn down (or off) video card acceleration in the appropriate Control Panel before Fraps would work for me. Of course, that horrendously slowed down things, kind of missing the point. Hope you find something that works like what Chip recommended, Zuzi.

thanks for the advice. Deskshare looked pretty good but it put a giant text line across the videos to make me want to buy it. weird thing is i ended up finding a free program that looks different but has exactly the same menus and options as Deskshare. hmmm...... anyways got it working for what i need. thanks!
