late at night after all my close friends were safely away to bed i went out to blow some serious lindens getting gifts for this <insert winter holiday of your choice here>. and i ran into 2 problems: 1) no transfer stuff and 2) what to buy people that go out and buy all the cool stuff they see for them selves?

1) no transfer stuff often makes allot of sense, i.e. a vehicle or attachment that you can make copies of. is there a good way to give this stuff as a gift? i know most will let me pay them and drop the recipient the inv... but then it dosnt feel as much like its from me cause someone else is doing the giving.

perhaps the creators can do something like a no mod no copy transferable model of the item that can be traded in for the item? that way people can give gifts that are no transfer. (the model could even be scripted so that the creator knows that it is indeed an original? just a thought)

2) i browsed on slexchange and gigas looking for something different and cool and not knowing what to look for well... i didnt find what i was looking for (although in a few weeks when im allowed to shop for me there is a bunch of stuff i want to get lol). i need some suggestions, do you make something really cool? is there something you bought for someone thats cool? are you really hoping someone gets you a really cool thing you have had your eye on? (i would post my thoughts but that would give away some of the stuff im buying for people)

really interested in peoples thoughts on this.

well... i could say i did that... but people i know sometimes browse the forums and i dont want to give anything away lol.

and there are people in SL far more talented than i, in far more diverse fields than i have skills in, so why not take advantage of that? for example im very sure that you Lf are a far better architect than i am.

aha! perhaps gigas and slexchange can be set up to allow a purchase to be gifted! that would really make slexchange and gigas worthtrying for me!

I ran into the same problem alot of the stuff I want is no trans.. and I really want to package my gifts and give them out myself

Maybe if necessary they can just change it for Xmas.. PLEASE!

And LF, If I could make my own I would, But I don't think my friends would be happy with a wooden, cube shaped gift, seen as thats about the best I can do

actually Jauani gigas will let you purchase for a friend, but that still has the problem that you cant wrap it up and give it to them, although with near instant delivery it seems to be the best option.

i was really hoping to get some constructive thoughts, opinions, or solutions on this.
anyone else having these problems, or a solution to them?
or if you are a creator of things that are sold no transfer what do you do about gifts?

Not sure if this is do-able or could be done in the future as I don't make or sell anything that is non-transferable but...

It seems that it would be cool if there were a way to make non transferable items that could be packaged in a box that could be transfered as long as the item is not removed from the box.

Maybe the lindens could make us a special box that could be modified (all members could change the textures on the box to decorate or "wrap" it) but that only the creator of the box could insert a non-transferable item into. Then anyone could give the box with the item inside away. The item inside would become non transferable once it is removed from the box and could not be put back in the box unless you were the creator of both. Sorry if I am repeating myself, I'm going on very little sleep.

Seems this would not only be usefull during the <insert winter holiday of your choice here> but also for Birthdays and other times when gift giving is appropiate.

Using = rezzing, attaching, opening (notecards, scripts) or something else I forget
